“The game started out looking good for the rats, very few pows on the opening kickoff, and they were able to use their speed to put their players in solid defensive position. The slow advance down the field was haulted in a last ditch goal line effort by a storm vermin and the gutter runners one of whom, Vectitch, subsequently picked up the ball but stumbled and lost it as he tried to take a step to many.
Luck was on the rats side however as soon the ball popped loose into a very opportune position and Vectitch again picked it up and dashed up the sideline attempting to lob the ball crossfield and then chase it down. He was prone to accident though and instead of a nice spiral dropped the ball next to him. At which time the NWL coaches picked it up and attempted to wait out the half. Their catcher took a brutal hit and the ball went out of bounds the crowd tossed it back in and Blistus eyes lit up so much he forgot he had one dodge to make before trying to outrun the rest of the defense. He was tripped up and crashed to the ground leaving the ball resting where the NWL Coaches picked it up and threw it downfield to finally celebrate in the end zone.
To add insult to injury the half ended with Vermolk Cyst usually a very reliable blocker picked up a gouged eye on a failed block and will be sitting out the next game.
The Second half saw a slightly depleted rat lineup take the field only to find more of them dropping out as it went on. They couldn't get their act together and the NWL Coaches easily held them out of scoring range despite some valiant efforts.
Grats Bill you played an excellent game.”
