Handicaps in my favour - Gloom & Doom and Duh (Bonehead).
This premiership season I'm in a group with 3 Chaos Dwarf teams and a Dwarf team... as well as some nasty looking Lizards, Necros and of course, my first game - Borgen's Norse.
I received in the rain... even drew first blood with a BH... and proceeded to get in range of the end zone... but a used reroll led to the inevitable 1 on the gfi... and my chance to go 1-0 up quickly disappeared to the sound of a appreciative Norse crowd.
After rescuing my star thrower from a foul - niggle, I managed to take the ball carrier down with a 1db blitz... but some badly judged square choice led to the ball bouncing into the crowd, and within reach of a Norse counter play. Fortunately the play failed... leaving us 0-0 at half time.
The second half should have been routine, but the ref was on hand to make sure Borgen's weaker fouls were punished with sendings off, and I even had a chance to 2db the ball carrier... but of course a rerolled dodge failed.
Despite a valiant defence, the Duh Boneheaded Norse ball carrier handed off (in fine weather for the Norse drive of course!) successfully and Big Boy Willy walked in for a TD. 0-1
In the last turn of the game we managed to take down the 3 los players including the Ogre... just needed a completion from the 5spp lino to the ag4 thrower... and then we could try our luck with fouling the Ogre (especially as Borg had the apoth on hand still)... but of course she failed to complete with a reroll... and the match ended.
Good things to get from the game - A) 16 players to face Goo's strong Necro team... B) We did ourselves proud and felt we could have got a draw.
