“Inaugural Game of Fumbbl Cup Seven! (FC7)!

From an erie silence the noise in the gloom began to build.... "they are here, they are here" murmured the crowd. The noise grew, rising in waves, as the rumour spread... "they are here, it will begin...."

Then - with a an explosion of light, sound, and fury - they come!

So Bob, this is the first game of the first round, and striding onto the pitch we have Pythrr's Sentinels of Justice, a band of moderately-well preped Orcs (with a Wiz and Nobla in their company) and Fanatic's Guild of the Unseen, "Wampyres" (complete with Lord "Fattie" Dimir).

Yes, Dave, looks like a good match up here - Orkish strength vs the cunning and individual power of the vampires. Much is gonna depend on how hungry thoese brutes are.

Damn straight Bob, it always does. Let's just hope they stay away from the cheerleaders this time.

Well Dave, from the looks of the Orc cheerleaders, I don't think that's gonna be a problem. No glamorous WAGs amongst that lot.

(Handicaps for the Unseen Guild: Iron Man (on their 4st av 5 thrall) and Extra Training (good for vamps).

First Half Highlights:

Well, they're off, with the Sentinels kicking downfield to the waiting Vampire hordes - somewhat obscured by a blizzard. The vamps attempt to go right, then are forced to go backwards by some decent orc hits, removing 2 Vamps (KO) and another SI-ed. however, the vamp lord keeps hold of it and they come again down the right, before getting tied up on the right touchline. An exchange of fouls kills a BoB (apoced) and then kills another BoB (Block.GD).

In T6 Nobla fails his first Chainsaw attack (he was doing well til then, accounting for two vamps), allowing Fattie the Magic Vampire Lord to blitz his way out of a group of orcs and score in T7. The orcs try to counter but "sub-par" dice stop their pass attempt and their TTM. 1-0 Vamps at half time.

Second Half highlights:

Few and far between for the Orcs, who succumbed to a barage of Vamp blocks, fouls, and luck (not really great luck, but just no bad luck - where are those OFAB rolls?) that sent them reeling backwards, burning 5 RRs in 5 turns vs the Vamps just one. Compounding this was another DP kill (Blackle, GD, MB Bob), Nobla getting sent off on a 6/1 foul, and general Orcish lameness. To be honest tho, the vamps defended well.

To cap the second half off a thrall gets the ball in T7, and goes the length of the field, dodging an amusingly spiteful fireball, and makes it 2-0 in T16.

So Bob, something of an upset there?

Well, not really Dave - those Vamps are capable of beating anyone on their day, especially when they sacrifice that many goats to Nuffle before the game.

That's true Bob, and boy do those goat kebabs taste nice. Next up for the Guild is most likely a trip down KAOs lane, assuming the mosnter orcs get past the FUMBBL Star Zombies - how do you think they'll fare against those bad boys?

Well Dave, let's just say that there's gonna be a whole lot of Goat BBQ going on before that game....
