“Going into the match, I didn't feel the same nervosity as I did back in the LC with this same team. But then again, I wasn't scheduled against a coach who averages more fouls than blocks this time :)
Anyway, I was sort of expecting to win with a rather high probability, but was worried about the possible attrition my squad might suffer - as well as the fact that I haven't played with the team in a while.
But, as the game begun, everything ran smoothly. Or perhaps I should say luckily. I scored something like three cas (one regened) and three KOs in 3-4 turns while in my drive, and could secure a 1-0 lead pretty early. I think turn 5.
I contemplated stalling, but figured I'd try to capitalize on my man advantage, as well as my superior gutter runners, and could probably go for 2-0 just as - or even more than - likely as he'd score 1-1.
As it turned out, he got a few players back (but not the mummy), and through a combination of tricky gutter runners and luck, I managed to score 2-0.
I was all but through to the second round.
But the last word had not been said in the 1st half, as Aleinikov managed to mng my rogre before the bell rang. As it turned out, that cas was the start of an immense flood of casualties posed upon my team throughout the rest of the game.
All in all, I lost seven players to casualties, and will have to do without both my block/dp linos (only one dp player remains against the orcs), and never used the apothecary.
My opponent was insanely unlucky with pick-ups for most of the 2nd half, and a early-to-mid score in the second might have pushed the game into OT.
Thanks for the game. The next game will be all but impossible, but I'm kinda glad as long as it was't perms.”
“Fumbbl Cup 1st Round
5 Undead left after 4 turns....shouldn't need to tell more.
When the luck finally turned and OT seemed a possibility, I spent 6 turns trying to pick up the ball....failing every single time until time ran out.
GL Borton in the next round. Kill that Temple Guard!”
