Obba Conference South, Season 5 - Round 5

Handicaps for clownfoot - Iron Man and It Wasn't Me (on Luther Blissett - claw CW)

Looking at the two teams before kick off I thought that I would completely walk this match. It didn't turn out like that though. Clownfoot did his level beast to disrupt my game and wasn't going to give me an easy ride.

I scored first, but clownfoot equalised very quickly in the 2nd half... fortunately my team had enough about it to not only get the winner, but also skill up two chaos warriors in the process.

Fortunately for clownfoot, the injuries inflicted were all BH's so he should be in good shape for next game.

Was a light hearted and enjoyable game... GL in the rest of the season!

After being stood up and left waiting in the pouring rain by the Chaos Dwarf's of Colombus Crew, it was with equal joy and terror that the Blood Pool's met their next opponents in round 5 of OBBA. Joy that the Khornets decided to show their faces, terror in that a bunch of unskilled, dopey Thralls were to be little match for a team that had a little class and style (not to mention a couple of claws) about them. A 12-pair of underpants trip this was likely to turn out.

Luckily Luthor Blissett was rounded up by the local fuzz prior to the match for undisclosed reasons, which gave the Blood Pool's a supposed advatage, but this was soon wiped out by the pulverising power of the Khornets frontline. This juggernaut merely swept through the Thralls, sending the likes of Michael Owned and Peter Beardslay flying into the injury rooms and with a decimated team at half time, all looked bleak.

Still, while "Killer" Kennedy and Alan Handsome (Ironman) were on the pitch there was some fighting spirit remaining. Their capable defending in the first half forced the Khornets to score earlier than they would have wanted, and it was hoped they could drag the Thralls by the scruff or the neck at the beginning of the second half. Indeed they did. A quick fire equaliser from Handsome, involving some fancy footwork and a dash for the line was fairly impressive as nearly all about him were dropping like flies.

More casaulties to the Khornets and with the Blood Pool numbers dwindling further it was unlikely the Pool could stump up any further resistance. While Killer and Handsome attempted to rally the troops, it wasn't long before they had capitualted and the Khornets were crowned worthy winners with a second TD late in the second half.

The Blood Pool's should feel happy with the result however. No long term casualties were received, one player is starting to show some latent ability (five games, one skill roll, gah!) and a bit of fight in a game that, on paper , looked to be a complete whitewash means that mid-table mediocrity is now almost certain! Yay!

Well played Wotfudboy, and good luck in your chase for a top two position! Otherwise I'll be looking forward to the re-match next season.
