Despite the huge following both these teams have a poor gate was taken, with only 41 thousand showing. Perhaps the crowds viewed this as a "cake walk" for the Straw Dogs and thought they'd give it a miss.

Despite the score line at full time, the Bigg'ins displayed a level of playing skill which surprised most - not lest of which the Dogs, who were stopped dead in there tracks on several occasions.
The end result could easly have been 5-0 had it not been for two excellent Goblin defensive runs.

The midfield carnage was high with two Dogs being dragged off and another two taking a blow to the head they never recovered from before the final whistle.
The Bigg'ins suffered the normal Gobo "smack down" but nothing of great note to worry them for their next game.

A surprise show for the fans was the Bigg'ins fielding traveling wizard "Amos Firestone" who's fireball spell floored three dogs at the very start of the game, which opened the field to a daring Goblin rush which was only narrowly stopped.
But any hopes fans might have of the wizard being a solid fixture of the teams line up were dashed when head coach "MONTster Fivebellies" ate him during halftime, upon learning his tricks were a one shot offer per game.

It doesn't seem like the Bigg'ins are going to manage to get off the bottom rung this season but the small glimmer of style they displayed this evening has many talking about possible results in the near furture.

Dog fans will be pleased with the win but with current league champions so far ahead its really a race for bronze.
