“Third round FC game.
Some days blood bowl is kind to you, this was one of those days.
Going up against Politeia I honestly didnt think I'd have much of a chance, but I decided that if I had any it'd be on the back of as many stars as I could possibly field and hoping my opponent would underestimate me.
After much agonizing I decided to go for my old favourite the Count coupled with none other than Griff "the man" Oberwald. My thoughts were that Griffs speed would let me harass the orcs ballcarrier before he could get a proper cage formed and I also planned to use him on pushback oneturner attempts if possible. The reason why i didnt like him was that with only av8 he was a big target and would easily get dispatched by the orcs heavy hitters. But seeing as I would get 5 handis I figured one of them might turn up Iron man and then the ball would never be safe for the orcs. My opponent on the other hand decided to go with Ripper.
Unfortunatly the handicaps turned out to be subpar:
A palmed Coin, that i happily accepted to recieve in the first half.
Morley's that unfortunatly only struck one player and only struck once at that.
I am the greatest, was ok, but politeia had enough talent to not really care wich of their super players tog et some airtime.
Doh, where am i, worked surprisngly and almost suspiciously often
and finally bad press, that had the potential to be really good but no interesting kickof events ever happend so its worth was pretty much nill.
My first turn blocks were good enough resulting in one KO and another soon followed from the foul and since politeia refused to break armor at all until my troll koed himself around round 3-4 I had a much needed numerical advantage on the field.
Soon after my trolls mishap I found an opportunity/ was forced to send griff downfield with the ball. The orcs could only get a 1d bloitz on him and even though they managed to get him down I could recover the ball and keep it out of their hands until my seventh turn when I was forced to score. This left the orcs 2 turns to equalize but they missed a los block and I could go to the halftime with a 1-0 lead.
Second half was much more of a trial. The orcs started breaking armor, sending a steady stream of my guys to the ko box, luckily both griff and the count stayed on field, and caused some trouble for the orcs. I knocked the ball loose once, just to snake-eye my attemp to dodge away with it, knocked it loose a second time to see it fall into another orcs waiting hands. And finally knocked it loose a third time in my seventh turn of the second half, this time it scattered into the audience who were kind enough to toss it way downfield into the waiting hands of my blitzer, who stood in the tacklezone of ripper. Unfortunatly he faield to dodge away from ripper and the ball was ocne again free on the ground, some agonizing moments followed before i could see the orcs fumbbl their pass and with that their last chance to equalize the game.
Thanks for the game skeletor. The dice were good to me, as i suppose they had to be for me to have a shot in this game.
“Due to my bad english i have newer made a match coment, but here we go.
Well i wass not really care much about this game, this game was all about keeping my team safe for the next game vs Overdose. After i was forced too use apo on at niggled st4 blitzer, i really startet putting tacklezones on ewrything too make it difficult for my opponet to get assists for he´s fouls, and that often left me short of players to keep the ball safe. And that wass a ok plan, but my st6 bob made a quad skull and left him open for a foul.
Whit Count and he´s damm Gaze + a ma8 st4 leap player on the feild a normal cage is just not enogth. I shout just have used all my players on keeping the ball safe, then it wout have been wery difficult for the humans too break the strength of the orc.
First half i desidet not too go all in after the ball, just hurt some humans and take it to OT, in that way i cout allso give more atention to keeping my team safe.
The Count is really broken in the hands of a skilled Coach, as i see it he´s far better than Morg and still 10k cheper. Gatts really made Count shine!
When you play a yber team like Politia the you expeckt youself to win, and eweryone else expeckt them to win, so you play a wery low risk playstyle, for Gatts its like he can make alle the crazy moves and if he fail he gave it he´s best or he will end up a hero.
I made a lot of mistakes f.eks i missede that Griff hat leap and that made the ball lose wery erly in 2half, and thats just a noob mistake that you cannot make in the FC.
All in all Gatts just playede far better than me, ok he hat som luck and my troll and BH blitzer desidtet that they only wout play 1/2 of the sekond half, but still i shout win.
The better Coach won, but i learned a lot about tournaments from the game.
1. Newer take a game light.
2. You can´t win a tournament if you allways think about your team, somtimes you have too leave a player behind, ewen if that mean that you will leave him for fouling and therfor maby get a mng for the next game.
3. I have the team for winning a major, but i don´t have the mad skillz like Gatts, so instead of develloping the team i shout develop my mad skillz : ).
Thanks for the game Gatts, i´ll get the mad skillz and then i´ll come for you!
PS. I hate Griff, and the icon is really ugly!”
