Frustration arrived early in this the fourth campaign as we were astonished to find that all the Rings of the Freeworld were turned upon us, to hamper our journey to triumph. I rallied the men’s morale by informing them that this would not have happened if we were not the most fearsome force in the Freeworld and reminded them that we were currently on the best form of our careers.

And so, at last it was time to once again take to the field against newly arrived opponents, Refugees of Rohan!

The Refugees were a fully loaded unit of sixteen individuals compared to our twelve, but quantity is no substitute for quality and so we arrived with confidence! We started things off on offence and expected a tough time in stalling, however, this was made somewhat easy by the inexperienced Refugees and their inexplicable fear of the unknown, odd, egg-shaped weapon… instead they concentrated on the battle in the centre field, much to our joy, 1 – 0.

The first half ended but attrition had got the better of us, and things were not made any better by crowd violence that left all but a small handful standing. A KO, and a foul to the injured tent later, and the Refugees looked certain to have an easy time of a draw, or even a win should the KOs not return… but once again they elected to not pick up this wondrous weapon called Ball but merely stand around and gaze at it.

We took our opportunity and with but a handful of men claimed that which they wouldn’t to take the game beyond them, 2 – 0.

In their final drive they finally understood that they required the “Ball” in order to get a tally on that wooden board that read “2 – 0”, the only problem was that they lacked the required practice to catch it. A last minute demonstration of our talents taught them the errors of their way to make it a brilliant 3 – 0.

That game unfortunately however took a bit out of our inexperienced players, who both seemed to suffer from their winning performances.

Quite a game for us where nuffle stayed off our back for the duration. Oryx attested to having little experience against elves and high TR (An awesome elven combination) and it showed as he left the ball very loose. His bash and diving tackle didn’t quite compensate for the lack of ball control either but it was a very enjoyable game.

GL rest of season Oryx, and remember the ball. ;P
