“We're up against chaos dwarves with 3 DP hobgoblins! Who convinced the ref those spikey boots were regulation??
Goals today are: win (naturally), get one of these THREE rookie GRs a skill with 2x TDs and get a completion for any of our three rats on 5SPP. Come on!
They start with some big punches and a gang foul (just a stun!) while we blitz through and KILL a rookie hobgoblin! They refuse to apo him as it turns out he was just a 20k freebooter to make up the numbers for the game! Well-spent money!
When they fail to pick up the ball for the 2nd time despite a RR we are able to capitalise and blitz away the hobgob and a couple dwarves and then run a GR to the ball and into the endzone for a 2nd turn TD! Receiving the 2nd kick they set up in a much better central cage with a hobgob holding the ball. However over a couple of turns we get lucky on a troll turnover and manage to blitz through a small gap we engineer, knocking him down! They try and come back but our speed lets us get the ball and run downfield for a 2nd TD!
Bad kick gives a touchback to the centaur but they have just 2 turns to try and push through- instead of charging their centaur upfield alone they decide to play it safe and try and injure some rats. This lets us try a risky 1d blitz against him, which I make, and now we have a chance for another TD, though it's quite difficult. However we make the GR pickup in a TZ, dodge out and then go for a pass over a few dwarves- but no they form a dwarven tower and the topmost dwarf intercepts the pass!
They kick off and perfect defense lets them totally block the half way line with dwarves, and good defending sees me unable to push any rats through. In the end we are forced to try a series of 1d blocks and dodges to get a GR through and then go for a long pass with our thrower which luckily works! This buys us a little time but the dwarves are defending very well. There's a big fight but generally speaking the dwarves are in control and we are doing the desperate moves. In the end our attempts come to nothing and a hobgoblin grabs the ball to run in a TD on the final turn of the game!
