Their brilliant kick lands right on the LOS at one side, but that doesn't stop us from picking it up and _passing_ it back a square to our blitzra- for a skillup for the skelly who did it! We don't keep the ball for long as their werewolf and wight blitz to knock the ball free- it soon ends up in the crowd who throw it diagonally towards the necro end zone, right in the middle of three of our mummies. They send in their players and manage to grab the ball at one point with their werewolf after some nice zombie pushbacks, but he fails the final dodge and knocks himself out!
At this point we are able to knock down pretty much the whole necro team and run the ball (which landed in a skeleton's hands at one point) to safety by their endzone. When they decide not even to stand up on their 6th turn, we decide to foul them (a stun) and then run in the TD on our last turn of the half.
They start with the ball landing at one side of the pitch near the LOS, and we commit 3 mummies to that side only to see them hand it to the werewolf and totally switch sides on us. We run our blitzras back, but a nice lone blitz by the werewolf stuns one while the other is occupied by a zombie. We get a skeleton next to the doggie and try for a dodge blitz with the blitz-ra but he can't make it even with a RR to help him. The werewolf growls and KILLs the skeleton (Femur, who regens for 2nd time this game) and then runs in the equaliser!
We will have 4 turns to try and win it- but they get a sweet kick off almost right into the corner just as it starts pouring rain! We have one reroll and it's enough to let a blitz-ra get the pickup on our first turn- we have a chance!
We move forwards and it's clear the blitz-ra is going to have to start using GFIs to get near enough to that touchdown line... As we clear space for him a mummy gets a both-down block and without any rerolls left that looks like it's curtains for our last ditch attack. However on turn 16 we look at our options and there is a very unlikely attempt open to us. Here's the last play of the game: rookie mummy block for a push to open a gap, double GFI 2d blitz with a blitz-ra to free up a skeleton who's in range of the endzone, 4+ dodge with the ball carrier blitz-ra to reach the skeleton, 5+ catch of the handoff in the pouring rain, and then 2 more GFIs to make it into the endzone and win the game!!! We did it!
An unlikely win for us but we're well happy to have it! Hard luck on all the failed regens CoachGrizzle, it made all the difference early on.
