“Our khemri face pompom's skaven, we could have our work cut out for us today as there's a nice full squad of 13 rats, including 4 GRs, 2 of which have MA 10 and blodge!! Naturally we still have no tackle on our squad, ahem.
They receive and we spread the mummies out to try and stop them being able to run through.. but this doesn't slow them for more than a turn, before they make a rush down by one sideline with a masse of rats and several gutter runners. We try our best to get through to the ball but just can't make it and the rats score with ease, skilling up a gutter runner with a completion to boot, the showoffs!!
A bad kick gives us a touch back but without a full half to trundle forwards we decide against a mummy ball carrier and give it to one of the blitz-ras. We push right through the middle with lots of skeletons and the mummies caging amidst a lot of rats. At one point a rookie skeleton niggles a rookie rat lineman with a gang foul, the skaven choosing not to use their apo and the ref sending off both the skeleton and our head coach!
The skaven do some sweet moves on this turn, eventually engineering a 1d blitz with a lineman vs our ball carrier, and with a reroll they knock him over! A storm vermin grabs the wildly bouncing ball and we try our best to take him down with a mummy but can't do it even with a reroll used, so instead we pile everyone we can in and around them. There's no easy way out for the skaven and I'm wondering what they will try... but their first move is a simple dodge by a GR and double 1s so we'll never know! We knock down the SV and let the ball bounce out of the scrum, where (once we knock down all the rats we can and partially surround a couple of gutter runners) a skeleton is able to grab the ball first try and run upfield. The skaven go for the double GR blitz, making all their dodges but only rolling a pushback. We manage to blitz with our block mummy with 2GFIs and knock down the GR who pushed, leaving our skelly free who makes the 2GFIs (JUST) with a reroll to score the equaliser!!
We start the half in style, filling the rat KO and cas box in the first couple turns while grabbing the ball with a blitzra first time and walking upfield. Soon there are just 6 rats left on the field so we decide to foul a prone blodge GR with our block mummy (taunted on by the rat coach) WITH the eye on us! He's sent off and the gutter runner is KO'd. Fun for the fans there! The other remaining GR makes a fine -2d blitz stunning our blitzra and picking up the ball he drops! Fortunately he somehow fails the simple dodge after that, phew, would have been difficult to prise the ball from his blodging fingers!!
We grab the ball with a skeleton and run upfield and with only a couple of rats left on the pitch they really have little chance to get at him- when a rookie skeleton KILLs the last gutter runner on the pitch with a foul (apo fail) it's all over and we run in the 2-1 TD on our last turn.
But wait- on their final turn the rats set up their remaining MA 10 GR on the half way line and then roll up a quick snap! He's now just in range of our endzone .. and with our line of players across the pitch just a couple squares too far forward they are able to sprint a lineman up to blitz down a skeleton, meaning the GR won't need to dodge through but can just GFI twice to score the last second equaliser!! The skaven fans go wild!!
Well played pompom, a very entertaining game and a deserved draw in the end.”
