“After a few scrappy results, i thought my team were gonna romp to a big win against Sigla's unlucky Ogres. They had only scored 1 touch down before this game, and even the pesky dwarves had sunk 3 past them!
All went well in the first few turns, my black orcs managing to combine to pin down a few ogres - allowing my goblin to score his 3rd of the season. Yet with the ogre fightback my orcs went weak in the knees, allowing a pesky goblin to whizz thru and pass to an ogre for an equalising touchdown. With time running down on the clock, i managed to squeeze another td in before halftime with an amazing combination of dice rolls: my thrower running up the field, passing to a goblin, who ran up to my blitzer and handed off (who was in a tackle zone), blitzer than dodged out, then blitzed a little goblin who was in his way, leaving me to GFI on the last move: 2-1.
Sigla suffered horrible luck with bonehead, and this showed in the second half. Someturns 4 of them would stand around doing nothing, allowing me to get in a few blows. Yet still his goblins managed to dodge their way thru tight situations, getting the score back to 2-2.
Now, this was dangerous territory. How could my "mighty" orcs expect to be taken seriously as title contenders when the Miss Taunton Finalists were matching us?! On my last drive i had intended to form a mini-cage around my goblin up the field: yet an onslaught of ogres put an end to that. Yet, another great luck dice combination enabled me to score a winning td, spraying the ball across the field: my goblin ran from the side, back to my thrower, handed off, my thrower than ran towards the middle of the park and completed a pass to a waiting blitzer, who then ran onwards, having to go for it twice (one of which, of course, he failed... but i saved a reroll).
More bad luck for Sigla (a pitch invasion which stunned half his players) meant he couldn't even chuck a goblin to snatch a point outta the game. But a fine game all round - and 3 points in the bag and pressure on those undefeated Khemri. I'm just glad i equipped my thrower with "accurate skill" before this game, as he sure needed it (4 passes during the game!).
“The captain pretty much summed it up. It was a game of unusual luck from both of us combining extreme bad luck with extreme runs of good. The good came for both of us when it really mattered. AV3 ogres rock. I can't wait to give them both dodge!
Overall, 3-2 was a fair result as the Pulverisers were unlucky not to inflict more serious injuries considering the number of knock downs they caused.
We're still looking for our first points of the season and we're running out of games to do it in!!”
