“The streets of Altdorf were a sea of cheering fans as the Straw Dogs brought down the league Champions in a hard hitting game that showed in the world of BloodBowl even the mighty can fall.
It was only a matter of time until the Champions took a hit and lost a game, and the Dogs delievered the blow last night. Throughout the season the Dogs vagabond team has pulled itself together and has nurtured some of the leagues up and coming stars - but a game against the Champions is never going to be a walk in the park and the Dogs still had their doubters.
Head coach Hilson had fronted up a considerable number of Karls to hire Bloodbowl legend Morg n' Throg - who proved to be worth every penny, scoring the first TD of the game and acting as a hammer against the Norsemen.
The norhtmen were not to be out done and despite being put on the back foot and being penned into some furious rucks managed to pull of an excellent equalizer from team captain Dagda, the the fans - who should never be over looked did their bit by cheering the Champions throughout the 2nd half with Nordic death songs and some of the more "spirited" amoung them took to lynching not one but two refs form the sadium rafters.
In the end however the amount of causualties started to tell and the presence of Morg and some highly effective blocks from the Dogs sealed the deal and the Champions were swept away and the Straw Dogs toppled the giants of the game.
Celebrations went well into the early hours as the dregs of the city toasted their own champions and the bridging of a socal gap with a win over the best. Interestingly enough the Norse fans were found amoung the streets engaging in just as much revaly - seems any excuess for a drink a fight and a song is all they need - win, lose or draw!”
“'The Champions Fall' was the headline as thye Champions of Eriu lost their first game to a well martialed Straw Dogs.
Head Coach Nemed was furious at the lack luster display of his team. They failed to get out of the blocks early on and the loss of inspirational captain Nuadha and Dagda's Pet had a terrible effect on the team.
It wasn't long before the Dogs dominance paid of, as they ran in the opening touch down.
The League champions didn't take long to equalize with the ever faithful Dagda doing the damage to make an opening for the only other bright star, Bodb Dearg, to run it home.
But the second half only got worse for the Champions as they failed to get their usually reliable battering game going. And infact they were being given a taste of their own medicine by the Straw Dogs. With the sight of defensive lench pin, Cuchullainn being carried off, the team collapsed and allowed the Dogs to get their winner.
Can the Champions bounch back from this disappoint. Assistant Coach Kurtious has been lynched in the after math, but rummors have it that his body has not rested and strange incantments are being played out!”
