“As the ogres trundled onto the pitch, many expected to hear the news of niggling injuries causing havoc with the starting line-up, however for once the Curse'd weren't cursed.
The game began in a bloody fashion, with a human liner crawling into the badly hurt box after meeting the fist of an ogre. For the duration of the first half, the humans sat back - biding their time waiting for a hole to appear in the Curse'd defensive line. The Ogre's - confused about this tactic resisted temptation to rush headlong into the fray and cautiously edged towards the end zone while Thrombad and Vera played catch-ball. When they were close they punch down two humans and in wandered Vera Frans for a TD.
The second half began with an instant human reply. The Curse'd tactic of allowing the opponent in to score early failed to work as their efforts to get the ball back down field for the winner spectacularly failed when three boneheads were rolled in quick succession and a GFI went bottoms up.
The ensuing fight for the ball led to the death of J-Harrison and M-Light.. and a SI on Spikes... these players will be remembered for their efforts to keep the Eagles Fan Factor from dropping.
Speaking of fans, well ... only 19000 showed up, a record low for both teams. Those away fans came went home smelling of human blood, but remembering their fallen heroes. The Ogre's fans, well the family and friends of the goblins [ogres don't have friends] enjoyed the carnage but were a little dissapointed that they didn't see many of their kinsfolk flying. Green meteorites are a speciality of the Curse.
Once again a great opponent, a match featuring dogged teams that will never retire no matter how much money they owe the bank.”
#1 J. Harrison – Dead (RIP) #10 M.Light – Dead (RIP)
“This game was, in short, a bloodbath. The ogres killed two Eagles and seriously injured another, much to the home fans delight. The score however, was level at full time, the result of motivated Eagle play in the second period. The large, if intellectually challenged opponents however, forgot to pay the side from Einheim after the game. It seems, with two corpses to transport already, nobody on the Eagles staff was brave enough to argue with them about it!”
