Well, one of those games i'm not sure i'd have done too much differently. Both nigglers not showing up was always going to be a bad sign - especially as it included my other stripball/leaper.
I recieve first and start my drive with an apo using foul vs the woodies. But a few turns later i end up in trouble after double skulling and snaking a catch in the same turn. p4m, blitzes the ball and gets a great scatter sending the ball back to him, but fortunately for me this good luck is undone by his tree then rolling triple both downs to cause a turnover. I don't have many options and just have to rely on some ag5 magic and somehow score to take the lead.
p4m starts his drive with plenty of time to score, but not much forward momentum is made and t7 he is only part way into my half. With my last turn i set up 2 lines of elves, so at least he'll have to make some 3+ dodges, but as finishing off the defence i snake a dodge leaving the formation uncomplete and p4m gets a much easier score just requiring a 2db blitz and 2gfi.
2nd half and with his much higher FF p4m gets the ref. This combined with me taking 3-4 turns to even knock over an elf reads bad news as my ko box slowly fills up. The game gets slightly bogged down in the middle and i try a 4+ dodge for a 1db on his blockless ballcarrier, but fail. Next turn i decide to zap a wardancer with my wizard, leaving another 1db on. This time i have to reroll the gfi and roll a push. The numbers started to even out again and p4m managed to get some forward movement in t15. It was time for another ag5 dodge and this time i was planning on frenzying a 1db push into a 2db needing several 2+ and a 4+ dodge into a cage. With a lucky scatter this could have given me half a shot at scoring and stealing the win. However having burnt my rr on the first dodge of the turn I fail the gfi into the 2db allowing p4m to walk in an easy winner.
GG p4m, hard to play vs woodies when they don't play a bad turn and don't roll 1s either :P Good luck for the rest of the tourney (you better go and win it now :P)”
