“It was indeed a match in which anything could have happend. The Dead Boys had the numbers advantage but pevailing low AG and only 1 Ghoul to start the season meant a small few positionals were playing a serious running game against a team with some excellent damage dealing capabilities!
The Dead Boys wasted no time in trying to gain the CAS advantage and if it haddent been for that meddling apoth the Chaos Ogre would have been out from the get go!
Once the drive started and the Dead Boys pushed forward the wall of Chaos Warriors and Ogres stopped the shuffling march in its tracks and the two teams traded spikey fisted blows. With the ball being spilled a number of times burning rerolls left and right.
With the clock counting down some risks had to be taken and unfortunately for the Dead Boys totally back fired with an excellent passing play that left the slower Zombies unable to catch, watching helplessly as the Chaos romped home a TD at the half.
In the second things went from bad to worse with the Dead Boys picking up some injuries and more importantly one of the faster players being consigned to the box, so with only two Wights with any kind of pace the Dead Boys were on the back foot.
Desperate to try and grab a draw they pushed forward but the Claw of Barnes put pay to many a counter attack and left the Boys wide open 2-0... a game that was entertaining and tough and could have gone either way!
The Dead Boys are looking like a pretty solid team again now with the good Zombie base and some cash we might manage something this season to be proud of.
The only regret from the game is the EPIC fail in the BG Killing department... :( Bad times! - Next time Wotfud... next time! muhahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha”
Both teams started with an equal TR, but significantly different TS, with the undead able to display a much bigger squad than the 11 chaos players. After having just spectated Count Von Halseburg (CvH) play a Star Wars match where his undead cleared the pitch of High Elves (with foul after foul raining down on the hapless elves) I knew I was in for a tough time!
With the undead receiving, the chaos lined up, and were systematically knocked over... and the boot went in on the Ogre... niggling him... fortunately the apoth was on hand to tend to him. Soon after Luther Blissett was BH'd... and things were not looking good for the chaos side. With the apoth used so early, and just 10 players for the rest of the game, it was going to be a big ask to get anything from the game, especially with the undead looking very much in control. It's amazing how quickly things can change!
A mistake (I suspect coming from pure overconfidence) by CvH saw him leave the ball carrier exposed to a blitz, which after a reroll led to the ball being spilled... and the game decended into a big ruck.
With the undead concentrating a little too much on putting the dangerous John Barnes out of play, they lost focus and left the ball open. Eventually a double skulls without an available reroll let the chaos side have a chance (and without a reroll it really was a slim chance) at a counter attack in the dieing moments of the half...
Alec Chamberlain saw that Andy Rankin had dashed up the field within scoring distance, so he picked the loose ball up gfi x1, threw the ball, which was caught, and then run in for a TD in turn 8. The crowd went mad ... and this one action completely changed the look of the game.
With the Khornets receiving in the 2nd half, all they had to do was keep the ball, and stay alive. We lost Ross Jenkins who left the field hurt, but then John Barnes went on a rampage. Eventually we avoided the undead defence, took out a mummy and fouled the ghoul and scored to leave the undead very little chance to do anything... other than T16 foul the Ogre again... (undead just don't like being beaten in TD's and cas's), but fortunately no serious injury was sustained.
In the end, it was a very nice, and slightly fortuitous win given the start to the match. Now I just hope to see oryx's Football Association of Wales suffer in their 1st game so that I can exact revenge on them for the loss I suffered at their hands last season.
EDIT - Just noticed - this match was my 800th win on FUMBBL! :)”
