“A very close match, despite the lack of Chaotic Dysfunction players. Well played and a lucky finish for me. Could have easily gone the other way if the dice had just gone the other way a little bit more.
“This was one of those games where the loss made nearly no sense. Firstly a probable touchdown can't be scored in the 1st half as Styphon's players initially cleared the ball with a very unlikely marked pickup, throw, and catch. I recovered it, and it was a beastman vs a wight. The block failed to make the space, but the beastman was still standing, until he dodged and fell. 4/5 times that would have been a touchdown.
Second half I started with 5 players after all 4 KOs opted to spend the next drive on the bench. Making the most of things, I managed to get a beastman in space - a pass, as long as it wasn't fumbled, gave me a chance. A zombie interception, of course, and once the undead had the ball, against 5 players, it was 1-0. 3 players chose to join the next play and with 8 players, a decent play - a variation on the previous play, this time without the chance of the interception - saw an equalizer.
1-1, a few turns left, and both teams expended (no rerolls). The failed pickup by a ghoul left an opening, and a beastman got next to the ball, with a chance to score. With no rerolls, a wight dodges out and takes out the beastman. The ghoul picks up the ball, makes a pass to another ghoul, which stretches over the line.
I don't know where the high 'luck' was in this game. It certainly didn't feel lucky! Styphon threw reams of skulls at times, offsetting the mad ball skills on display by his team. My guys, well, I'm not quite sure what they accomplished that could be considered particularly lucky, I guess the block dice weren't unkind although relatively few got thrown.
A fun but ultimately frustrating game. I wonder if anybody else is more susceptible than me to interceptions. Lately I've had a troll, a beast, black orcs, and now zombies intercepting on me...”
