“The first score of the game came quickly in the first half when Dwarven players in the widezones failed to trip up their lithe opponents, and Sulis Dryssil slipped into the endzone after a perfect pass from Heribor Tonil.

On the first Dwarf possession of the game it looked like a breakaway for the Dwarves, Grim Shaddo surrounded by a cage of Dwarven muscle merely steps from the endzone. A lone Bucaneer lineman, Kerril Ralia, pierced the nearly impenetrable defense and laid a heavy hit on the ball carrier. Donmar Millitus scooped up the loose ball and tossed it over the broad-but-short wall of angry dwarves to be caught by Gerai Henlar. Though he had a clear shot at the endzone, alone behind the bulk of the dwarven defense, time expired before he could score.

At the beginning of the second half a botched kickoff left the ball in the hands of a Longbeard on the LOS. Humdrum Graldo quickly tried to hand the ball to a skilled runner, but Noin Gunikachum let it slip through his fingers. Bucaneer Millitus slipped in to grab the squibbed ball, but bobbled it right back into Noin's hands. After a series of tough Dwarven blocks, Noin followed the Hammersmith bulldozer into the endzone for the first Dwarven points.

After a touchback on the kickoff attempt, Lineman Artega Mantell took the ball deep into his own territory, buying time for his receivers to gain ground on their Hammersmith defenders. Unfortunately Grald McMallet got to him before he had the opportunity to get the ball off. Grald steam-rolled him to the sidelines, putting him flat on his back and causing the ball to fly into the stands. The cheering crowd tossed the ball right back at him, and amazingly he caught it! Grald stepped into the endzone, having caused a blitz-tackle, forced a fumble, caught a pass, and scored a touchdown all on the same play.

Late in the second half the Bucaneers were having problems getting their passing game together as Hammersmith runners were consistantly tripping up their receivers. With only seconds to go, a wild pass to Ferid Trasilla lay only steps from the goal-line with a Hammersmith defender easily in reach. All that had to be done to secure victory for the Hammersmiths was to simply grab the ball and hold on for the final few seconds. Unfortunately what should have been an easy, albeit cheap block downfield failed and the ball lay untouched at the end of the Dwarven turn. The intended receiver maneuvered over to the loose ball, easily scooped it up, and stepped over the goal-line for a last-turn tying score. ”
