The Chargers take the field for the second game, of their third season in the DAL, taking on the Champs o' Death.
The Champs batter the Chargers to start the match, sending many to the pitch and forming a solid wall of blockers. Which played perfectly into the Charger's feint, although right as the Charger's defense goes in for the kill, the first dwarf to act destroys the team's rhythm and giving the Champs a huge opportunity to break the defensive line. A lone hobgoblin had one last chance to prevent the easy TD, but came up just short.
Down 1-0, the Chargers get the ball back and have a chance to tie things up before the half. They drive down the field and Bleckamar Malice eventually bursts past the final Champs defender, only to fall over the second his hit a gallop... he claims that a bony hand reached up out of the earth as he was about to cross the goal-line and tripped him... this allowed the Champs enough time to form up a defense and make a stand. The Chargers had a final last ditch effort to score as the half ended, but Zendmakar failed to pick up the loose ball (he also claims to see a bony hand reaching up from the earth and swatting the ball away from his grasp at the last second).
The second half saw the Chargers receiving the kick-off, but a very tough defense by the Champs held them from scoring to tie things up until the final moments of the game... once enough of the Champs were removed from the pitch. On the ensuing kick, the Champs attempted a trick play that had caught the Chargers off-guard, fortunately they couldn't get a hold of the ball in time.
This was one hard fought match, Alonut played very well and I really thought I was going to lose (especially after he was rolling so well on the OTS attempt, he was only a couple rolls away). The double skull, reroll double skull roll hurt... although not as much as the failed GFI, reroll failed GFI to score the TD before the half. I'm happy to walk away with a draw though, considering how poorly I rolled at times.
