“Well, with the help of a virus (taking one player out of the game), the underdog Miners were able to pull out a win against the more experienced Oilers.
Nuffle was kind to the Miners most of the game, getting a BH and a SI by halftime to assure that we had at least a player advantage. (the serious injury to OJ is a niggle, but he's a no-skill lineman, so not that much damge done, luckily)
The Miners were able to score the lone TD late in the 1st half and kept the Oilers out of the EZ for the next two drives.
The refs must have been put to sleep by the slow game in the 1st half, as they did not even bother to show up for the 2nd half (both teams 'got the ref'). The coaches kept the game relatively clean, with only one foul early in the 2nd half (the Oilers were down 2 players by then and were trying anything to try to even the field a little bit)
Both teams had some very short turns in the 2nd half, with players tripping over their own feet constantly it seemed. A catcher on the Oilers got the ball and sprinted towards midfield, but tripped on a sleeping Ref and fell on his head (KO). The Miners were able to get the ball and attempt a pass, but as everyone knows, Blitzers are not trained in the finer points of passing...so the ball sailed a little off target. With that, a ref was awakened and he promptly called a halt to the game, as it was time to raid the local taverns.”
