Schalburg is no doubt one of the most competent coaches I've ever gone up against. A true strategist who leaves nothing to chance. He managed to outsmart me a couple of times with some nice moves.
I scored the first TD through an initial drive along the left sideline and then threw the ball across the field to Smitty, the goblin, when things got to hot.
I made a fatal mistake that allowed the dwarves to score in the last turn of the half: I forgot to use a reroll (perhaps the next dice would have been a skull, so I really can't blame my stupidity alone). Cred to Schalburg for fooling my defence to the left, while he went to the right though.
In the second half I set up a more strategically correct defence, which forced the dwarves to rethink their tactics. I also managed to take out one of their key players for that particular setup - a vicious 4AG blitzer. Schalburg quickly reorganized his team and started a sweeping drive instead. Being more prepared this time I redirected my players, but by now I'd taken to much damage to be able to stop the push (5 badly hurt + 1 KO). It appears it's in situations like this that I'm at my best as a Blood Bowler. I made him work hard for his second TD, despite being highly outnumbered.
With only two turns remaining I figured I had to go out on a limb to score the equalizer. I set up a pocket to protect my troll and goblin, the dwarves charge forward and leave their endzone unprotected, my goblin gets the ball, the crowd holds their breath and direct their attention to Mama Maple as she looks down on the tiny goblin she's about to throw...
