#3 'Evil' Lee – Dead (RIP)
3/2/09-- Both the Sluggas and the Daggers limped into this game not being able to field a full team after brutal punishments in their prior games. They were both just looking to do their best to survive and recover for the next match, and the fans weren't expecting much either. However, nothing could be farther from the truth. The game started off with the Sluggas, in true Orky style, getting confused and thinking they were kicking when in fact, the Daggers had slyly deffered to the second half. As the ball sailed over their heads, the rookie blitzer, Fasta, turned to retrieve it, and the orks were on their way. They fought their way into Dagger territory before the Daggers were able to stop them. However, the tide then took a vermin turn, and the Daggers were able to knock the ball loose and sprint down for a score. Their victory celebration was cut short, however, as the Sluggas pulled off a duplicate of their "Flying Gobbo" play just as they did last game. Due to a botched Dagger kick, "Smelly" Smeldon ended up with the ball at the line of scrimmage. Again, the troll Tank lumbered over to him and hurled him thirty yards down the field. A screaming Smelly managed to land on his feet and coast untouched into the end zone for the Sluggas second one-turn score in as many games. The first half ended shortly after in a 1-1 tie. The second half started with a kickoff to the Daggers, who took only a few minutes off the clock to pull ahead yet again. The orks couldn't seem to find an answer to the gutter runners' speed. The kickoff to the Sluggas again went awry, leaving the gobbo "Evil" Lee with the ball at the line of scrimmage again. Legend, the Sluggas coach, started screaming at Tank to get down there and throw him again, but Tank was distracted by a pretty butterfly on the field and forgot he was playing. This left the poor gobbo defenseless to the charging skaven. The black orks blockers did their best to clear a path for him, but he was soon knocked down, sending the ball into the crowd, where it was thrown in and picked up by Smelly the gobbo. Smelly twisted and turned and dodged his way to a very hard-earned score to tie the game yet again. Although his cheering was darkened once he saw his teamate "Evil" Lee wheeled off in a bucket after being knocked into the crowd and torn apart. Funeral services for "Evil" will be tomorrow at noon. The kickoff to the Daggers was botched, leaving them with excellent field position. Once again, the gutter runners easily outdistanced the orcs for the score, putting them in the lead once again. The kickoff by the Daggers went wide into the stands for a third time, leaving a terrified "Smelly" with the ball at the line of scrimmage. Tank, undeterred by butterflies this time, galloped over to him, lifted him high into the air, and sailed him down the field. This time however, his aim was off, sending "Smelly" high up into the second deck of the stands, where he was promptly knocked out. The ball fell back into the Daggers end zone, where neither team could do anything with it as the clock ran out on the second half.

Overall, a very entertaining game resulting in two teams just looking to limp through a recovery match. While the Daggers walked away with the 3-2 win, the Sluggas were happy to only have one casualty and actually had a respectable showing in the game. In addition, the frequently airborn "Smelly" Smeldon achieved an agility point increase for his pain. Also, Grim Painbringer, one of the two twin Black Ork Blockers, saw his work bench pressing gretchin pay off with a strength increase! He may become a force to contend with in later matches.

An excellent write up by Legend who was a great sport and is an asset to the FUMBBL community. My pair of Gutter Runners, Stranglide the Quick and Socide the Darter both lived up to their names, flashing about the Blood Bowl pitch to whereever they were needed.

Legend showed excellent use of 'Throw Player', better than I've seen thus far. In the end and when it counted though his troll took a dislike to something in the stands and chucked the goblin at it as a missle.

I look forward to the rematch.
