“A tie that the orcs should have won...but the chaos almost upset.
Poor play and poor dice led to 0-0 at the half, and when no chaos KO's woke up, but all the orcs' did, the chaos head coach sort of lost interest in the match.
Thought I'd try a play that my skaven occasionally make...the old 'reverse gangfoul'
Instead of chasing the ball carrier, just gangfoul the few guys left over. Usually, the opponent leaves a guy or two to stall out, and commits the rest of the team to defending the gangfouled, then my gutter runners slip away en masse and smatter the ball carrier.
Of course...chaos don't have gutter runners.
What they DID have though, is a chaos warrior who could dodge into a TZ, out of it, through another, and GFI twice to POW a ball carrier up to the sidelines...the throw in, into an Orc tackle zone...but luckily we also had a beastman who could dodge out of a TZ, through another, to GFI twice, pick up the ball in a TZ, and short pass it out to a chaos warrior across the pitch.
Of course, that chaos warrior didn't hang onto the ball for long...but he did get up next turn, -2bd blitz a troll to get him off the ball, allowing Brasky the beastman to dodge out of TZ, grab the ball, GFI twice to get clear and punt the thing far from any orcs.
With time running out, the lone orc blitzer who went for the ball failed to pick it up...so Brasky dodged out, blitzed him for a POW, but then baubled the ball himself, leading for a tie. Well, just how many 3+ or 4+ did I think I was going to make, anyway?
Still, made for an entertaining 4th quarter to an otherwise embittering match :)”
