The Invencibles started in offence, but lost the ball due to a Blood Falcons blitz! The Invencibles fouled to take out a Falcons Thrower but were unable to stop the score.
On the next drive, the Invencibles fouled again and this time caused a RIP. The Ref saw the foul but pocked his whistle due to his pre match bribe! The Falcons KO'd the DP with a block and then managed to steal the ball and run it back upfield.
The Invencibles then had two horrid turns allowing the Falcons to delay scoring, one was a Quad Skulls, and the other was an accidental end turn after only one player had moved!
The second half saw the Blood Falcons start in offence and the Invencibles made a mistake on their defensive setup, allowing the Falcons to leap their AG5 behind and surf a DP out of bounds. A KO on the LOS gave the Falcons a 11-9 advantage and they were able to effect a score pretty easily.
The Invencibles lined up for their final drive, and did a loose cage on the LOS only to give up a two dice blitz (thanks to a Leaping Guard) on the ball carrier! The ball came loose and the Blood Falcons recovered it much to the dismay of the opposing coach.
However, they were able to recover the ball and send it deep, but only for the Blood Falcons to recover it again! The Falcons had a long bomb attempt with an AG5 player to a Lino who needed a 3+ catch (plus 6+ intercept and 2+ dodge to make) to make it a lopsided 4-0 result, but tripped on the first GFI to try and bring it to long range.
The invencibles recovered the ball and scored a late TD to salvage some pride on the scoreboard.
-------------
Was a pretty even game on paper with both sides only have a few tacklers, but plenty of Guard and Sidestep. The Invencibles had a Str4 and Knuckledusters, but the Falcons had the scoring and mobility advantage with their super Throwers (one BH on the first turn), AG5 Witch Elf and two Leapers.
The Blitz opened it up and it was going to be hard work for my opponent after that with me receiving in the second half. A quad skulls, and an accidental end turn was too much of a hurdle to overcome with such good players on the pitch.
However, my opponent played very well throughout and there was not much that he didn't do right apart from allowing me the surf of his DP, and also leaving me the two dice blitz on his ball carrier which could have been prevented by closing tha cage.”
