#1 Zaphomet the Endbringer – Broken Ribs (MNG) #1 Zaphomet the Endbringer – Smashed Knee (NI)
“Good, hard-fought game. Both teams had 1 drive each that took the whole half, but neither of us fully controlled our own drive (though maxblb did a little better job on his).
Note: the entire game took place in the pouring rain.
First half was maxblb's drive, and quickly knocked a chaos warrior out for the game. As he slowly advanced his cage down the field, I managed two 2db shots on his blodging thrower, but was unable to get a pow (or even a defender stumbles, not that it would have helped without tackle) despite rerolling both blocks. Eventually he opened a big enough hole that he could move guys around and seal off my pursuit, and stall the one turn to end the half with the score.
My drive started ominously, with a Blitz. The Metro Orcs made a big push to the end of my line, and moved into my tackle zones all up and down. One blitzer was sent in advance to pressure the ball. I blitzed the advancing blitzer and pushed him over to the sideline to threaten a surf, then brought 3 beasts over to secure the ball, without much luck. After scrums in 3 different locations on the pitch, I eventually secured the ball on T14, and the Metro Orcs' last shot at the ball went Push/Push/RR/Skull/Skull. After blitzing an assister off my chaos warrior holding the ball, I moved him out of range of the rest of the orcs to secure the tie. Maxblb tried to arrange a T16 chain push to get a gobbo a chance to score (the troll was hurt earlier), but there just wasn't enough for him to work with, and in the rain, the ball pickup failed anyway.
Good match. The niggled chaos warrior was unfortunate, but the beast who rolled +ST and aged a niggle might have been even more so. First stat in on the team in 16 games, and it comes with an aging on a second roll :(”
