“After 2 games of pretty awful luck, I finally caught a break, albeit at Nagaos' expense. Lack of rerolls hurt both sides and a failed GFI by a skink decided the game in the first half when it was tied at 0-0. Making that would have seen him with a 1 turn uncontested run to the end zone. At that stage both luck scores were within 5%, as they'd been all game. Only near the end did the skinks thin out (to nothing) and a great big snarl up saw the ball tied up with tackle zones on both sides preventing a clean scoop.
My attempts to get the BCs carrying the ball didn't amount to much, and it was a hobgoblin, #8 snapped fang, who scraped the ball home on T16 after a bone head by the Kroxi saw any chance to blitz and force a dodge failed. I'd pushed my luck with a few dodges by hobgoblins, but tried to do so late in the turn after all others had moved. Blocking wise the Chaos Dwarves were effective, with block being quite useful, but not overly so.
Jury is still out on the tigers - I don't really know what I'm doing with them, as with Dwarves, and the dubious benefits of Minotaurs have yet to be revealed to me - he was a wild animal for just about every turn. Maybe a troll would've been better, but then again, after last time out with trolls, maybe not.
A first win for the Tigers, thx to Nagao for a good, tight, hard game. The skinks were too fragile at the end and when the last one was knocked out I knew the chances of 1AG Lizzies picking the ball up, save for a bad bounce, would be slim. I had no game plan, just had to see how it went, and it went to me, right at the end, so I saw no need to push my luck and just ran the ball home rather than get more blocks in. Win is a win, even if you don't deserve it!”
