“If you tried it, it worked. I mowed down everything in my path, DirtKlan dodged and got more -2db POW/POW and 1db POW rolls than I can remember (not a single skull among about 12 total 1db and -2db rolls).
Some very unlikely rolls resulted in my failing to get a TD at the end of the first half (one of the aforementioned -2db blitzes, into a sea of guys with Guard). In the second half, I lost the ball again on my drive when my troll (who caught an errant kickoff, not a touchback mind you, just caught it from the line) was knocked down my a -2db and I barely came away with the ball in a scrum.
The next kickoff was a perfect defense. Despite both being chaos teams, we are built totally differently. The Papal team has multiple claw beasts and +stat guys, whereas the Apocalypse is heavy into Guard. For anyone wondering, Perfect Defense HEAVILY favors the guy with Guard (I had 5, he had 0) over the the guy with claws and stats (I have 1 stat, 0 doubles skills of any kind, he had 3 claw guys and 3 stat increases). With his offense dominated, DirtKlan managed a 2db blitz before trying for the ball, and failing the pickup. I rushed to reach the ball while smashing everything in sight to the ground. Another failed pickup by him let me sneak in for the 2-1 lead.
I should have stalled.
With time running down and the ball in my backfield in the hands of one of my beastmen (after knocking his guy down and taking it), his turn 16 consisted of a dodge out, 2db horn-blitz (POW) and a scoop, followed by a GFI to make it to the end zone (in this case, the MA8 beastman was a huge plus).
Overall, a pretty fun game with no lasting damage. The T1 kill that DirtKlan apo'ed was ominous, but ultimately a false alarm.”
