Pretty strange game. Too much people said I should win this quite easily and on top of that I wasn't that nervous before the game. Then it started and after 2-3 turns noone was sure about who would win anymore I think.
Dwarves got Palmed coin (and Buzzing!), so they could start with hitting a bit. Went well for them with one lineman KO'ed and Headsplitter niggled, apo used, fouled BH ... All in T1.
9 skaven left, but with a wizard I thought I would have a chance this half. But then we saw why BigBear1 was in the final. He lured me into using my wizard and that was the worst turn in the whole game for me. Used it already in T3 (normally I'm more patient), did a lighting bolt where a fireball would probably have been better and on top of that a longbeard just catched the ball. With wizard and Headsplitter gone, I couldn't think very well and tried the 3+ dodge with my GRs to still get the ball. Probably another mistake there. But well, the belief that you have to get the ball in the turn where you use your wizard is so big that I had to try. Well, 30% luck at that time, so couldn't do much.
The 3+ failed, so the dwarves had an easy stall to score in T8. 40% at end of the half so was going up. We had hope. :)
All my KO's came back but one, so I had a good shot at oneturning it to 1-1. But not in this half ofcourse. 3d on longbeard was skull and two Pow/skulls so I decided to leave it to the RO and didn't use a rr. RO failed wild animal roll ... Always on the big moments, stupid RO. :)
0-1 to end the half, wizard and Headsplitter gone, so didn't look good. But 11 players to start with again, so a new start.
And it started good, KO'ed a longbeard in first turn and crowdpushed another in the second turn. With this advantage I was able to stall till 6th turn leaving BigBear1 3 turns to score back. Was hoping to go to OT and get the ball, but a failed foul for the dwarves gave me a chance to put some pressure. I risked the pass to the back of my field and tried to put my GRs with DT on his runner at the back of his half. With rr gone quite fast I didn't dare to though and this gave the dwarves a chance for the pass. Now he had some bad luck with the block dice, so the runner who should catch was still in a TZ, so the catch failed.
Now it looked quite ok, with a good chainpush the ball was free and the SV should get the ball to my GR to run in. All went well, even with the RR gone they managed to make a pickup, two gfi's and a catch: 2-1 for the skaven!
The oneturn for the dwarves was a long shot, but with 4 frenzy players it was possible. Failed though, so great ending of the 400th game for my skaven!
Thanks, BigBear1, for a fun game. I didn't play that good (Risks and safe plays not really at the right time, but I was the lucky one in the end!) and your luck in first half made it really tense. You played it well though, you deserved overtime here.
Well, was a really good tournament and great timing to win it. Thanks, everyone.”
