“The Strikers had just been taught a football lesson by So We Are Lifeless and were keen to unleash some of their frustration on the Necromatic Citadel Ancients, their opponents for this final round. With only 14 points from their first six rounds, promotion was out of reach for the Strikers but they had a very real fear of being dropped to the Regional Divisions. The Reds received some good news when Black mamba failed to pull up for the game, but then lost the toss. The Comrades in the stands helped out though, invading the pitch and stunning four Ancients before the kickoff had landed! Someone even sniped Deng Xiaoping. Rumour has it that Deng's attackers were related to Matyas Rakosi, who has been keen for some more game time.
An error by Sticky Entrails gave the Reds an early opportunity. His pass to Fax Mortis fumbled, and when Ho Chi Minh stunned The Vanishing Infinite, he opened a pathway to the ball. Both Runners, Vyacheslav Molotov and Klaus Fuchs, managed to get to the ball with Fuchs picking it up. The super scoring Slayer Kliment Voroshilov was also on hand to help out. To the Ancients' credit, they recovered, with Fax Mortis knocking down Fuchs, who spilled the ball. Determined not to let their early good fortune come to nought, the Reds went the knuckle. Karl marx seriously injured Emma Bradford before Vladimir Lenin knocked out Sticky Entrails. Molotov even got into the biffo, knocking out Mortis. Voroshilov got carried away and hurt himself badly. He would have died and joined the ranks of the Ancients if not for some fine apothecary work. Yet, the carnage continued. Bone Grinda was badly hurt by Lavrenti Beria whilst Molotov collected the ball. Vladimir Lenin was put out for the match as the Necros fought back, but Molotov was safe with Ho Chi minh in support and scored just before the break, but not before the big Flesh Golum, Pieces of Bones, had been knocked out. Kenny also managed to regenerate an injury and Pol Pot was seeing stars.
The Citadel Ancients regrouped and looked much more of a threat after half time. They had regenerated most of their injuries, whilst some suspicious activity in the knocked out box saw the Ghouls and Flesh Golum come out looking spritely. Fuchs passed well to Voroshilov inside a cage, but the Strikers' inability to knock anyone over was a concern. Kenny was able to eventually reach Voroshilov and knock him down, and when Fax Mortis started running with the ball it looked as if the Ancients were set to equalise. Striving for those extra yards, Mortis not only spilled the ball, but knocked himself out! Klaus Fuchs collected the loose ball and the Ancients were up against it. Beria knocked out Kenny and it was the beginning of the end for the Ancients. Marx put Entrails out of the game whilst Ho Chi Minh again knocked out the glass jawed Pieces of Bones. They were followed shortly after by Ugahem and it became a simple matter for the Strikers to wind down the clock and record a 2-0 win. Bone Grinda and Eth'el left the field in the dying minutes while Fuchs passed to young Longbeard Mao Zedong who ran in the first touchdown of his career.

3 - Fax Mortis
Constantly tried to break through and nearly got away to equalise.
2 - Eth'el
Was a constant thron in our side when trying to attack.
1 - Pieces of Bones
A controversial choice, given his tendency to get carted off during the match but was effective while on the park.
(Thanks theopacman, and good luck for next season. You got dudded a bit on the dice but kept us busy nonetheless.)”
