Devil Meat just managed to sneak through this one, but it cost them valuable players which will likely see them go no further in the tournament.
After winning the toss, I was fairly confident I could score and have a good chance of stopping the equaliser, even facing up against Grim Ironjaw.
My advantage in guard meant I could smack the dwarfs all over the place and exploit the fact Sons of Grungni had three frenzy players and had to follow up all over the place. An attempted foul by skulker, with three assists, didn't even get a stun on the standfirm/guard longbeard, but Watto excelled himself by niggling the same player who was apothecaried early.
A touchback had given the ball to super bull Khash, and hung onto it for long enough I was able to stall a couple of turns. Good play by Araushnar meant I had to score in turn 7, with Laos badly hurting a guard longbeard to help me in the second half.
A blitz on the kickoff stopped the 2 turn equaliser attempt and the dwarf foul just got a stun.
Second half, the dice turned a little more. I was still sure I could hold up the dwarfs, and the three frenzy players didn't take long to get bogged down. Unfortunately, I had to use the apo on a serious injury to a block, and he was swiftly followed by Blanek who got smacked by Grim.
My dp was sent off early trying to remove a troll slayer, but the dwarf runner hung back. When the dwarfs started to get numbers up, he ran forward and I was fast running out of options. Fortunately, Khash was left prone with a 4+ then 3+ dodge, 1 GFI and 2 dicer on the runner, and he obliged without needing the reroll to splat him by the sidelines and see the ball hurled into Sons of Grungni territory.
From then it was a race, with coach Araushnar deciding not to go for the GFI with the ag4 runner into the endzone, but instead going for a blitz with a troll slayer on the S5 bull, dodge out and into the endzone. The blitzer scooped up the ball, but miss threw the pass and the game was done. Grim had also -AV a guard blocker too, so I'm struggling for the next game which is the winner of 2 chaos dwarf teams!!

Thanks for the game Araushnar.”
