“Wildcats fans were delighted with a third successive victory today, although it was no sure thing for much of the game.
Death is Near received the first kick-off, but they couldn't hold off the Wildcats, who sacked Zoltan the Great. The undead surrounded Panther and Lynn, and although the amazons fought fiercely, a ghoul was able to grab the ball. Seconds later, the ghoul was smashed to the ground. The undead flailed ineffectively at their opponents, and Searles was able to rush off with the ball, which she handed to Panther. Two undead stood between Panther and the endzone... two vicious blows later, and the Wildcats were 1-0 up.
The undead started the second half with only ten players crowded in the centre of the pitch. As the amazons set up to exploit their opponent's flanks, Death mounted an early blitz. The Wildcats' front line collapsed under the ensuing onslaught, and Phoenix risked a pass to Panther that fell well short of the mark.
Sensing an equaliser, Death's ghouls descended upon the ball, and the undead surged forward. The amazons responded in kind, making their numbers and agility count against their shambling foes. Eventually, the ball fell into Lynn's hands, and she was able to fend off the mummy, Rotting Ron, long enough to get the ball to Panther.
Over-committed to their counter-attack, the undead despaired, and set about the ruin of their foes. As the clock ticked on, Death's two mummies struggled to get to grips with the nimble amazons, as they had done all game. With seconds remaining, Panther placed the ball in the endzone, and the game ended 2-0.”
