I opened the match foolishly, trying to strike quickly. Once my opponent reminded me that he had the faster and more agile team, I found myself needing to score, or I'd be giving up a touchdown the other way. I managed to blitz a player free, handed off the ball, and ran forward for the quick pass to the catcher. It hit the ground next to him, then bounced into his hands. Without breaking stride, he ran to the end zone and scored. Lucky? Oh yeah.

After that, the elves countered quickly themselves due to the pressure I was able to put on them. I restored sanity to my approach and ground out the rest of the first half in a cage, allowing the thrower to score as the clock ran out.

The second half saw fewer elves against me, and I was able to increase the pressure steadily, until the wardancer tried to dodge through my lines. How that failed, I don't know, but I found myself with the ball at my feet. A timely foul to KO the 'dancer, and the path to the end zone was basically clear.

Hiring Griff Oberwald was the key to this match. Key blocks, key blitzes, the high mobility; it all added up to let me make easier plays around the pitch.

The armor difference showed up, too, in the number of KOs I was able to get.

Finally, thankfully, I think the tree only accounted for a single KO in the game. I kept away from it as much as possible, and the take root weakness showed up often enough to save me from a beating.

The Savage Seahawks Coach showed some real cunning by hiring on a ringer for this pivotal match, which, if won, would provide the team with 10 League points, all but securing the SABBL championship.
The Star Player did not fail to make his presence known, assisting a critical second score in the first half, and helping to prevent a Gopherhunter second TD in the second half. The Hunters quickly saw many of their members fall due to KOs, and all seemed lost when a gratuitous pass failed, allowing for a potential pick up. The only available Gopher failed to get clear of his two blitzers, despite having a string of receivers wide open to take the ball all but to the end zone. The 3rd Seahawk TD proved that there is a definite place for Star Players in League play. After scoring 4 TDs in each of their last two games, the Hunters seemed favorite to win, but were instead schooled.
