“This was kind of a white-wash. Not only was it Dwarves Vs. Halflings, which is a tough gig for the wee hungry ones anyway, but there was another extrenuating circumstance...both tree men suffered some kind of hideous arborial infestation due to the 'Virus' handicap, and couldn't take to the pitch for the entire game!

The match was one-sided, but there were some interesting highlights. In the first turn, one of the normally mild-mannered, chubby faced lunch-lovers was so enraged at the arrogance of the Dwarves, he flew into a rage and unleashed an almost deadly attack on one of the Dwarves on the LOS. When the dazed Dwarf came round, it was to the taunts of his team-mates as the Apothecary stifled a chuckle and announced that without the immediate medical help he had rendered, The tough, brave warrior would have been carted off the pitch with broken ribs! And this was in the first turn!

There were TWO instances where a lone 'Fling blocked a Dwarf and put them on their bearded butts! A Troll slayer was shamed by being utterly unable to down a fling with a block, and at one point in the second half, a very bold 'Fling almost got a TD as he leapt from a solid cage formed around him by the Dwarves, only to be mauled to the ground at the last minute, the ball cruelly snatched from his grasp.

Nothing could stop the hurt though. By the end of the match, only two 'Halflings were in any shape to stand on the LOS. Before the final whistle blew, an unruly fan added, well, injury to injury by hurling a rock at one of them and stunning him.

When all was said and done, a slaughter was inevitable. It should be noted that my opponent didn't whine once about the really unfortunate situation he was in, and remained good humoured in this somewhat one-sided game. He also made a very good attempt to stop my beardies with some genuinely innovative plays, and it's good that few of his 'lil children got seriously hurt or killed . ”
