“OK, I know you shouldn't go toe to toe with a bunch of ogres, but we just can't resist it. We took a gobbo out, but no ogres sadly.
The first half went as expected, with the brutes sauntering down the pitch and hanging around before taking the ball over near the end of the half. A two turn TD attempt by the Bokonon boys failing, so the second half started 1-0 down, 8 vs 8. Well 7 massive, angry, bloodthirsty ogres and 1 gobbo vs. 8 idiots anyway.
However, Bokonon managed to take advantage of the other teams immobility by sitting deep with the thrower, and sent guys down the side. A beautiful block by a lone linesman (and no, it wasn't luck) freed up Fingers, a charge up the pitch by Rudy opened up the pass which was gratefully accepted and Fingers ran in the TD. Now, we just needed to survive the rest of the half.
Cue lots of running away. mirtis did their best to help because it took around 4 turns before they could even pick the ball up. The Bokonon tactic was to run away and then pile in on lone ogres whenever the opportunity arose. It somehow worked, and even though a late two ogre breakaway threatened, a failed hand-off put the ball on the ground and as many Bokonon boys as could stand rushed over to make sure mirtis would have to be extremely lucky to snatch the win.
A hard-fought draw. Somehow the ogres did not do me serious injury, although Fingers picked up a niggle from a failed GFI at the end of the game.”
