“It was looking to be an easy match for the Light City Armadillos against the Gothenburg Lions. With a full team they were facing only nine opposing players. Finally a match at the home stadium in Light City where the lights where bright and not smoke tinted and there was actually grass on the field.
The Armadillos recieved and Timothy "Stealth" White made a sprint down the field ready to kick off the touchdowns. A risky move by the Lions left a wide open space in the Armadillos defence though, and Blitzer Ville Viljanen was able to run through and block Gary "Longbomb" Arlington who was getting ready to make the pass to the first touchdown.
The Armadillos kept control of the ball though, and after a few blocks the ball was back in hands of Gary "Longbomb" Arlington who could safely pass it to Timothy "Stealth" White, who ran to the endzone for the matches first touchdown.
The Armadillos set up defensively for the kickoff, but continued to amaze the fans with their fast reactions. Before the Lion players even had a chance to react to the kick, the Armadillos were all over them. After a failed pass by Efe "Prince" Ehiorobo the ball was captured by the Armadillos and passed to Timothy "Stealth" White who ran back for a defensive position to secure the ball.
After some pushing in the center field Henry "Stonefist" Anderson and Lionel "Immobile" Boughton ran wide down the right field. Gary "Longbomb" Arlington send the ball flying, but Henry "Stonefist" Anderson, not accustomed to handling the ball. Wasn't able to catch it. There was never any danger though, the Lions were cought up by the rest of the Armadillos and Henry "Stonefist" Anderson quickly got the ball and ran in for the second touchdown.
The Armadillos, thirsty for more touchdowns, set up a bit more aggresively. By this time the Lions were down to fielding seven players, chances looked bleak for the Lions now.
A faulty block by Kenneth Gustafsson left the Lions defence wide open, and the Armadillos immediately took advantage of it. A few blocks were made, and after a few feints by the Armadillos the ball ended up in the hands of Timothy "Stealth" White once again, who safely secured the third touchdown for the Armadillos.
The Lions was back in force for the second half. The clean water from the Light City Water Recycling Facility (tm) must have been a welcome change from the muddy water the Lions are used to from their home town.
Still outnumbered, the Lions made a defensive setup with a lot of players blocking off for Efe "Prince" Ehiorobo who was carrying the ball. It seemed the Lions had also taken into consideration the advise from the Armadillos head coach to try and not put on their armor inside out. Although very fasionable it is, it's not very effective.
A standoff on the center field lead to the Lions being preassured due to the extra players of the Armadillos, but a quick change of pace from the Lions left Patrik Elmander open for to recieve the ball. A perfect pass by Efe "Prince" Ehiorobo and suddenly the Lions wasn't so far from their first touchdown as it had seemed a minute before.
The Armadillos tried to get the ball back, and Jeremy "Lightning" Welch did manage to knock Patrik Elmander to the ground, but the ball fell out of his reach. After a few failed tries at getting the ball the Lions got the ball once again and another pass from Efe "Prince" Ehiorobo to Patrik Elmander was underway. Alas, the preassure was too great and the ball thrown wide.
A quick recovery by the Armadillos secured them the ball. Although not entirely safe, it ended up in the hands of Gary "Longbomb" Arlington, actually it did twice. The Lions wasn't about to let the Armadillos get away with the ball once more without a fight.
After a block from Efe "Prince" Ehiorobo, Gary "Longbomb" Arlington fell and broke his arm. While Efe "Prince" Ehiorobo claims it was an accident some viewers expressed their doubts. We here at Light City Radio Studios (tm) will let Efe "Prince" Ehiorobo have the benefit of the doubt, for we believe in the good af men.
With the loss of Gary "Longbomb" Arlington, the Armadillo top scorer Timothy "Stealth" White took it on himself to pass the ball to Andrew "the Preacher" Stiles, who promptly ran from the pursuing Lion players.
The Armadillos celebrate their first victory, and would like to thank the Lions for a good match.”
