First half started off looking pretty even as Malmir drove a wedge down my sideline, and I started boxing him in to defend. Then a clever (if I do say so myself) chain push put a prone black orc next to his ball carrier, and it was able to stand up and 2db the ball free. Orc-elf magic ensued, and the ball rocketed down the pitch the other way. A tackle-breaking 1db SI'ed my best blitzer, but the apo saved him. A little blocking later though, and a blitzer was freed up to scoop and score to put me up 1-0.
Then things went sort of pear-shaped for Malmir. A midfield melee turned suddenly from push-fest to bloodbath as the Legion managed 3 cas in 2 turns, including the apofail death of a very spiffy line-orc :( (for the record, I hate apo failure...everyone is entitled to a freebie per game) and a non-regened niggling injury to a Block/Guard troll. Already shorthanded due to niggling failures pregame and It Wasn't Me, Malmir could no longer field 11 players, and the emergency gobbo had to be pressed into service. I failed to score again in the first half due to an errant click causing my troll to try dodging through a tackle-zone instead of making a 3db on a black orc.
The second half saw the Fleet Feet fleeing. More concerned by now with continued viability as a tournament team than with trying to steal a tie, they lined up well back and avoided getting into a brawl, as I scored with my Frenzy black orc, who so desperately needs Block. On the return drive, Malmir focussed on ball security and passing spp to good effect, skilling up his other DP and keeping me from scoring again.
GL rebuilding your team Malmir. You certainly have the cash reserves. It's just a matter of skilling up new guys.
