Pouring rain and incredibly stubborn rotters made this the hardest match I've had in a while. Whilst my mummies pushed the rotters back with little effect, great positioning by Kanati and a bit of luck on a block on a mummy saw me completely scuppered for a score in the 1st half. For 3-4 turns all my guys did was fumble the ball about and when they picked it up there was no chance of a short pass coming off to score - especially when a beastman got up to nail my guy. By the end of the half though the pushbacks had changed to Pows and KOs

2nd half, more rain bouncing down. As before, more pushbacks, though the rotters had a near full team back. Their attempts at a cage were admirable but the Really Stupid Beast spoiled things by, well, being really stupid. The rotters also got a load of block/pows and a few skulls that burnt through rr meaning I could catch them and let the mummies do their work. It was a block/pow that nailed poor Rhainer #10 for the Fly Lords as he crumpled whereas my skelly just got up again.

Kill Ro smacked smegol about and I fear his best days are behind him with a niggle. Still, the Rotters played on, valiantly, and the mummies found it hard once more to pick the ball up when it came loose. A series of KOs and stuns helped though and finally they broke free to score in turn 16.

Different weather might have changed things for the Khemri (easier ball pick up instead of 5+) and better block dice for the Rotters (as well as more than the couple of KOs they inflicted on av7) would have helped. The luck score got it right though in the end - too many failed blocks for the Rotters, plenty of pows and pushbacks for my lads meant I never got near using my rr at end of both halves.

Hard fought win against a good coach who got worse dice on the day. Another day, a different result of that I'm sure!

Best of luck with em Kanati - maybe my soft hitting (but Ko causing) Mummies have reduced your fear of the bone shakers - either that, or you fancy using them yourself... just remember they hate picking the ball up!

Cheers!

#13 Smegol – Smashed Knee (NI)
#10 Rhainer – Dead (RIP)
Not much more I could add to Meetgrinders report, it is pretty much right on, although I fear my players became more of an annoyance than anything else by the end of the game! I stand by my comments that Mummies are scary, you need to devote more players to get the upper hand in a blocking match and that can leave you stretched elsewhere.

Rhainer was obviously a loss but when you throw the block and kill yourself while just knocking your opposition over you know your in for a bad time!

A series of clever blocks saw my only ball carrier moved into the open without once being hit himself and then POW he goes down and a Mummy ends up with the ball on the right side of halfway. The Beastmen managed to knock the mummy down and the ball bounced free once more but the numbers game meant getting it back was near impossible by this stage. 5 KO's a SI and a death certainly makes things hard!

Meetgrinder finally managed to pick the ball up with just enough time to make the end zone and played safe to score in the final turn. A great grueling game!

In the games I have played with Meetgrinder he has always been great to talk to and play against. If things go against him he laughs it off and keeps going. I highly recommend him as an opponent and look forward to the rematch!
