“Dogged defence in the first half kept them ball in and out of Panic Button hands despite the Bokonon boys slowly losing men. Bokonon Jr. was revived by the doc only to be badly hurt later in the half. 0-0.
The restart was 10 vs 11 and it was the traditional Bokonon Reborn charge down the side. Enough men burst down the flanks to prevent Panic Button recovering the ball even when they put the ball carrier on the ground by the sidelines. With plenty of support, it was relatively easy for the two Catchers to blitz the covering beastman out of the way and skip down the sideline for an early score. It would have been tricky to stall, and the Panic Button guys were doing a good job at picking off any stragglers. Score and regroup. Now to last 5 turns of bashing and stop them equalising.
Early harassing by my men kept the ball bouncing around and Panic Button could clear their half until their penultimate turn. A dash across the pitch by a beastman and he was within scoring range, ably supported by a Chaos Warrior, although the rest of his team were tied down across the pitch by my men.
In the end, it all came down to a desperate 1D blitz against the ball carrying beastman on T16. Thank god I have a STR 3 catcher. The Chaos Warrior could not assist due to being marked himself by my other catcher (who was only there thanks to some superb defending by The Mysterious Nigel, who soaked up hits from two Chaos Warriors for 4 turns). The ball ended up on the ground out of the reach of any player who could score in reply.
No major injuries and plenty of money (for both teams). Yay!”
