Wow, and I mean that in a "not again" kind of way. 2nd game on the trot where I'm 1 dice bashed into the floor and spend most of my time picking players up. It started well enough of course - the challenge came in from my opponent with his 9 men humans vs my brand new orcs, there were no handicaps and TS wasn't such an issue - I do have 2 gobbos, kind of like a handicap in itself :S
Well, the game kicked off and I got a blitz - great! Or... not so great. What followed was a 1 sided pounding from the humans to thin my guys out. I was soon down several guys from KOs, whereas I couldn't do a thing to dent the humans (seeing as most of my guys were stunned or just getting up from a stun near on every turn). My guys got their faces proper mashed into the floor whereas my own blocks were feeble in comparison :S
1-0 down at half time with the teams at (up from 7) 9 (for me) vs 8 after a couple of guys decided to come back. Could be worse. I fouled one of the linemen on the human side out of sheer desperation - nothing else I had tried had so much as come anywhere near KOing them :S
Kick off for second half and... crowd invasion. 3 stuns each, helpfully on my side being a blitzer and two Black Orcs leaving me somewhat undermanned. A 1 dice block later left me at the mercy of another 1 dice block (the -2 dice blocks against my guys all came off as far as I recall. A choice between choosing whether to fall down or push back) and suddenly the ball was in the humans hands :S
A gfi from a Black orc saw the ball blitzed free, and out of sheer desperation and not really caring, a long pass to a blitzer who had to GFI and scored to tie the game. 1-1.
As mentioned, I never came close to denting av8, save for the gang foul = KO and a linemans own failed block/pow 1 dice shot against a BOB which saw him Badly Hurt and missing the game remainder. I'd already lost my thrower to a fine hit by #6 Alan and he'll be out for the next game too.
Anyhow, kick off again, no screwy results this time - changing weather. Finally the humans luck started to erode into the 60s (66% is as low as it got) and finally a failed 1 dice block, then next turn a failed GFI saw my luck change. I still needed to throw my own 1 dice blocks, dodge, and gfi, but the end result was that I broke free with a blitzer and the ball. A 2DB vs a goblin scored only a pushback thankfully, and a desperate Blitz through several tackle zones failed to ensure an unlikely, undeserved win for the orcs.
You're a fine coach capella - the dice were your friend throughout the game save for 2-3 turns but with only 9 players to start (though never less than 8, whereas my guys were at 10 only at the very end of the game) you needed to play better with positioning and did so - my mistake was hoping a 1 dice block of yours would fail and it almost cost me a 2-0 loss when the blitz on my thrower after a GFI saw him SI'd and me with all the work to do.
It's games like these you tend to remember rather than those rare 1 sided drubbings where 1 guy is totally screwed by the dice.
I didn't deserve the win, and my touchdowns were down to luck more than anything, but I'll take it anyway.
Thanks for the game, rematch anytime when your guys are at full strength - I expect you will win that one!”
