“The first half was a keenly fought contest. An early opening score for Frances Pirate, and then 6 turns of desperate defending. Somehow the Destroyers could force their way through and were unable to take many Bokonon players out of the game. Some desperate last ditch blocking meant that the opposition could not reply and the first half ended 1-0. An excellent performance.
However, the decisive moment occurred just before kick off. The Zharr-Naggrund fans got the ref and this freed up the opposition dirty players to have a field day. Everyone got booted in the unmentionables this half and the hospital tent was soon filled to the brim with injured players. This left the opposing coach with an interesting question. The offensive option was to take the TD, and attempt to turn the ball over and score a second time for a winner. I had lost a few players, so it was definitely possible. The defensive option was to instead take a few extra turns to take as many players off the pitch so I would have no chance of a reply.
Somehow my armour withstood the beatings and no one was permanently hurt (although the doc did have to resusitate one player), but the defensive option was the one taken. When Scurfrik ran into the endzone on the eighth turn of the half, only three Bokonon players were left on the pitch. Although the massed ranks of KOd players did resurface for the restart, a one turner was out of the question with only 6 players lining up.
Still, a creditable draw and a little more money in the pot.”
