The Red Star Strikers welcomed the Necromantic side, Deadly Laughter, to what shaped as a danger game for the Dwarves. Deadly Laughter and the Reds have had very different seasons, with the Necromantic side finding themselves 0-3 and the Strikers enjoying a dream 3-0 run. On paper, the sides looked far more even, with a couple of star Werewolves in Spike Milligan and Tommy Cooper, and an oversized Wight by the name of Peter Sellers a danger for any opponent.

The Strikers had a fortunate start. None of their players succumbed to the virus that quickly spread around their dugout pre-game. The virus did seem suspicious, with allegations of ghouls throwing used tissues all around the Dwarven bench. The Reds then won the toss and invited the Laughter to kick. Klaus Fuchs ran back for the ball early after the Dwarves had knocked over a good percentage of the necromatic front line, but fumbled a long pass. He was to get another chance and passed long to Vladimir Lenin, who stood in the centre of a pack in the middle of the park. Karl Marx had just knocked out Paul Eddington, a tough zombie and the only one of the Deadlies able to assist the tacklers in close, making the job a little easier. Meanwhile, Lavrenti Beria was doing his best in a tagging role on Flesh Golem Ronny Barker, holding his ground and preventing the Golem from going to the contest. The Reds then had to survive some good pressure from the Laughter as the two Wolves, Milligan and Cooper, sandwiched teir little pack and knocked over Deng Xiaoping and Ho Chi Minh. Leonid Brezhnev responded in kind, crushing Peter Sellers who was able to regenerate after being taken from the field. When Pol Pot knocked out Dudley Moore, it was suddenly a three man advantage to the Dwarves. Fold "UpII decided he wanted to be the difference today and put Georgy Malenkov out for the rest of the game to claw back the player deficit. It was Beria who, sick of the tagging role, promptly knocked out his job in Barker and made his way over to "UpII to try and serve up some revenge. Lenin's pack had, by now, moved closer to the side. With everyone else on the field tied up, only Cooper and the Ghoul Tony Hancock could try to stop Lenin and the two Runners flanking him, Fuchs and Vyacheslav Molotov. Fuchs pushed Cooper away though, allowing Leonid Brezhnev to get a good run up and knock the sprawling Cooper into the crowd where he landed awkwardly and knocked himself out. Lenin blocked Hancock, who was then carried into the knocked out box when the stretcher boys were done with Cooper. Kenneth Williams was the next knocked out, failing miserably in an attempt to belt Molotov. Deng Xiaoping smashed the remaining Wight, Graham Chapman, who is likely to miss next week after breaking his jaw. With Dealy Laughter reduced to three on the field, Lenin ran in the touchdown just before the half. After a quick passage of play, which saw Karl Marx fouled and knocked out but Fold "UpII sent off by the referee, it was time for the second half.

By now every player knocked out for Deadly Laughter had regained consciousness. With a full side again on the park, the Laughter broke right. A blitz by Ho Chi Minh on Dudley Moore failed to relieve the Ghoul of possesion and a good blitz by the rejuvenated Peter Sellers allowed Moore to handoff to Hancock, who used his footspeed to run past the Dwarves and equalise.

Fuchs again went to get the ball on the receive and passed to Ho Chi Minh, the big unit of the Reds' offense. The Reds came forward, but the coutner attack from the Necromantic side took a turn for the worse when Cooper blitzed Reds' hardman Deng Xiaoping. Deng was waiting and lifted the elbow at exactly the right time, lifting and turning the Wolves before Deng struck him in the back. Cooper will now miss next week and is likely to carry that injury for the rest of his days. Zombie Leonard Rossiter was knocked out shortly after, as the Dwarves trudged toward the endzone. Peter Sellers put a good hit on Molotov, whow as saved by the Dwarven apothecaries. From here, the Reds protected a small corner of the ground and waited for the time to run out, hoping to hold out and wind the clock down. Moore got inside their box, but was pushed into the crowd by Kliment Voroshilov. With Ronnie Barker, the only player close, lying on the ground stunned the Dwarves wer never going to be stopped and scored to go 2-1 up. The last play was merely a formality as the Reds went to 4-0 and back on top, whilst Deadly Laughter fell to 0-4 and will be trying desperately to avoid the drop. Game of the round next week will surely be the first versus second clash between the Strikers and the Skaven Blackwater Blitz.

Twahnlow Votes
3 - Dudley Moore

Did extremely well to hold his ground and make the handoff which secured Deadly Laughter's only touchdown.

2 - Peter Sellers

Was poor in the first half but lifted dramatically in the second, paving the way for Moore to assist the score and hurting Molotov.

1 - Spike Milligan

Was unlucky today, but fought hard and blocked for the duration.

(Thanks Erickan. Glad we finally got sorted to play. Good luck for the rest of the season.)

#2 Tommy Cooper – Smashed Knee (NI)
Another defeat for Deadly Laughter fourth in a row since their promotion but we had a lot of fun in this game, which could of been due to the amount of beer consumed during the game, as well as Deadly giving a better account than i thought we would as more than 2/3 of Deadly teams does not have block skill.

The first half was all Red Star they battered Deadly team with 6 x KOs players, and 2x SI as the held the ball well and edge their way slowly for the TD scored by star Blitzer Ho Chi Minh.

Bu 2nd half 5 of 6 KO player luckily returned Deadly managed to score a 2 turn TD with some amazing luck as bad positioning from Deadly presented a big gap to allow the ball carrier Dudley to be blitzed. However he survived the RR as well and Deadly was able to score with this bit of luck.

With their tails up and thoughts of perhaps holding out for a draw diminished when after kickoff star Werewolf Tommy Cooper blitz and rolled 4 skulls and was SI with a niggle. From there on it was just a desperate defensive job. However great positioning from Red Star with their guard and block skill were able to edge slowly but surely to grab the winner.

Well done Frankencrow nice game, had fun with another friendly SWL coach, which is why i think this league is the best.

3 - Ho Chi Minh- His St 4 and with Longbeard guard all around him kept the ball so well. He scored the first TD and unselfishly handoff the 2nd.

2 - Deng Xiaoping - Red Star main blocker and caused 2 x SI

1 - All Longbeard deserve praise here as with their guard it was exceptionally difficult to get any blocks in but since i must choose one then i will say Lavrenti Beria with his standfirm skill held up my players so many times.
