“Our first game against Ogres!
And it was rough and incredibly challenging. Agog started in defence, but made a BT dodge into 2 TZ and got the POWs on Blodger with the ball and niggled him on the first turn, apo failed!
Ouch. This caused the School to play careful offence the rest of the half, trying to keep the ball safe (after sacrificing it momentarily by exposing it when we fouled once in the first half).
Meanwhile, the Ogres were amazing, failing 1 in their first 24 or so BoneHead rolls (and similar ratio for the rest of the match) and used their two defensive Gobbos very well, making it hard for the School to get anywhere.
In the end we stalled a turn and set up a tight cage just short of the endzone. Agog swarmed it, and if we didn't score, it would be some OOB plays coming up!
High Elf School used a blitz chain push to send the ball carrier one short of the end zone as well as a Lion Warrior into the end zone and he made his 3+ Catch.
Agog had used up all their RR early on blocks (rather than Boneheads!) and failed on their TTM attempt on the handoff?
Second half, it was Agog in offence, and they started well, collecting the ball (we should have kicked it deep and run after it!) and shielding it early just behind the LOS.
Then it was a game of push and shove as the School got a couple of -2D and 1D hits on the ball carrier. Eventually we managed a 2 dicer that sent the ball free, but we greedily whent for the 4+ dodge into 2 TZ to try and pick it up and it came up with a perfect scatter for Agog to recover the ball and protect it!
The School put players in the way, including a Sidestepping Blodge Tackler that forced Agog to do a GFI for a score and unluckily for them, it came up a 1 (RR used) and the Gobbo died in the endzone, allowing the School to escape with a very lucky win.
---------------
Well what a match, it was very very hard with the Ogres making so many Bone Head rolls leaving us little to exploit. Then we started losing more and more players in the second half - we were down to 7 vs 10? and then some amazing sequences of play made the game very interesting.
Firstly me finally getting the two dice blitz on his ball carrier and coming up with a POW and KO to send the ball away from his Gobbos. With plenty of players left to move, iAgog looked in trouble as I could put TZs near the ball or even scoop it up and punt it or set up a score myself.
Then my failed dodge onto the ball that sent it scattering totally the wrong way allowing Agog to recover it.
Finally, the last Agog turn starting with a double Skulls block that meant a score attempt with no RR to add more excitement to the game and then the cruel final GFI RIP.
Anyways, it was a great game, very challenging and we were lucky to escape with the win in the end.”
