“Our orcs are up against spathii's higher rated chaos. We get one handicap (ironman) but that still means we are playing up a further +14 TS- could be difficult! They have a nice claw/MB beasty that is our #1 priority to remove, while we have a wizard to try and help the win.
It's raining and they opt to receive - sounds good! The kick lands right in the corner by the LOS- how dangerous for them and opportunistic for us! They shield the area with bodies and try to pick up with their AGI4 beasty.. but the rain makes him fumble twice! We charge in and get a pile of players all around the ball and ball carrier (and also gang foul with our DP for a niggling vs a CW using up their apo). They are now looking a bit risky and need to catch this handoff ... but fail it twice again!! This means we're able to smack everyone around, crowdpushing a beastman for a KO and then stealing the ball with our +AGI ironman blitzer!
They get a good dodge n blitz to stun him (ironman saving a KO) but we have the positional advantage here, getting another blitzer and a black orc through to the ball. A couple turns later (and several foiled pick up attempts in the rain) and we finally manage to dislodge everyone and score the TD to make it 1-0 agains the grain without yet using our wizzie!
Meanwhile they have badly hurt a guard blitzer with their only DP foul of the half, and it must be said, rolled double knock-downs on THREE -2d block attempts !! (though none of them were important)
There's two turns left each in the half and no one's got any rerolls left. We get a perfect defence to mess up their first turn, and then their first 2d block comes up double skulls! This lets us charge two blitzers deep after the ball, while almost the whole rest of the team combines to push, poke, and knock over enough players that we can get a DP foul in on their claw/MB beasty... badly hurt!
With a chance to make it 2-0 the chaos team try to make it as hard as possible, stunning one of the blitzers and then putting 3 players around the ball. We send in our +AGI sure-hands ironman blitzer... but it's still a 6+ and he can't make the pickup.
* HALF TIME *
At half time (possibly due to some unfortunate remarks by spathii about Nuffle's mother) the KO rolls favour us as our BoB returns and their +AGI beastman slumbers on! We quickly KO another beasty with our trusty DP making it 11 vs 8, though we manage to fumble the pickup in our endzone and the ball goes into the crowd twice before ending up in the middle of nowhere. They do a nice chainpush to get a prone beastman only a dodge away from the ball, which he makes though he fumbles the pickup. We spend the next few turns 2d blitzing him but just can't knock him over- while he keeps dodging free and blitzing over the ball carrier! Finally on turn 4 we knock him over and badly hurt him!
We move the ball forwards towards the ongoing melee- both teams smashing the hell out of each other but not really acheiving much; though with the numbers advantage it's looking a lot easier for us. They go for a risky blitz and it pays off as they knock over the ball carrier, steal the ball and then sprint into (relative) safety... but trip over! We use up our wizard to knock over the troll standing over the ball and recover it.
But once again an amazing beastman blitz leaves us in trouble as the ball bounces backwards to between a STR4 beastman and their troll. Luckily our nearby players are just about able to make it safe, though it was far from decisive, and the game ends us victorious- barely!
