The Nightmares were underdone for this match, probably needing one more game to lift their TR and TS closer to 175.
The Nightmares were going to be up against a very fast and mobile team (three Sauri had Break Tackle).
The Lizzies started in offence, and to start the match, and got an instant advantage when their fans threw a rock and BH the Nightmares' best CD in the backfield!
The teams exchanged fouls, with the Lizzies nailing a CD (niggle, apo failed) whilst the Nightmares bagged a pair of Sauri (BH). Luck favoured the Nightmares when the Lizzies DP was sent off, and the Nightmare's DP was also sent off but then stayed on the pitch after I argued the call!
I was greedy however and did some extra fouls to get myself sent off for a KO.
The Lizzies scored with ease after stalling out the match, but critically, they were down 2 players.
In the second half, the Nightmares started in offence and both teams exchanged blows again, with the Lizzies Krox being KOd early. The Lizzies did a good Break Tackle chain push Blitz to set up a one dice blitz on the Nightmares ball carrier and it came up a Pow (lucker Rij!!!) that KOd the AG4 Sure Hands Hobbo!
Unfortunately for Rijs however, a bouncing ball (was it scattered by a Skink jumping on it?) landed on a Bull Centaur who caught it and ran it upfield. The Nightmares copied the Lizzies play in the first half and stalled out the half. The Lizzies were losing players though to KOs and were very undermanned for the impending OT.
The Lizzies had 1 turn in regular time to do some damage, but the Nightmares got a Blitz and knocked down one Saurus to minimised the damage.
It was OT with just 5? Lizzies playing against 8 CDs (AG4 still KOd). The Lizzies started in offence, but a wide kick was knocked into the sidelines by the Sure Hands Skink and the ball flew 10 away from the Skink!
The Nightmares with plenty of Rerolls still (3 I think) charged towards the ball and were content to spend a few turns trying to pick it up whilst using their superior numbers to keep the Lizzies from getting more then 2 players to the contest. Eventually they picked up the ball and stalled out the OT period to advance to the next round.
---------
A tough game. There was little I could do in the first half against his mobility and Str4s, and losing my best CD to a rock sucked, but I was able to whittle away at him with blocks and fouls and I had a longer bench to take into OT.
Nothing much Rijs could have done differently to win the match today as my dice were good (lucky catch of the bouncing ball by my BC was sweet) and a few of his fouls were ineffective whereas mine got a few cas (3) and some KOs. ”
