Recrudescence of Vanyar 3 - 0 Melkor's Children

Dear Vanyar,

It appears that the Goblins bark was worse than their bite – certainly the teeth of their peculiarly mechanised weapon had no venom in them.

We began the battle with 11 warriors, and the berating Goblins threatened to reduce our number in mere moments of the kickoff.

Their over fascination with the mechanical object, that they called a saw, distracted their ‘warriors’ at the LOS though, and they toppled over themselves against our might!

We wasted no time and flooded their half, electing to ignore the dangerous looking, and illegal, saw - confident that the residing official would take immediate action – we did however dispatch their assassination specialist to unconsciousness.

The Goblins didn’t seem to mind that they had gone down by a TD so early, they were more annoyed that they would have to start the saw up again, and although the official had clearly not done his job properly their assassination specialist was still out cold.

Another fine and deep kick put the Goblins under pressure again as we swarmed them at the corner of their endzone. The saw still proved ineffective, although on one occasion it did manage to knock one of our men out cold.
Faced with this kind of unnerving savagery we opted to give the official another chance and reluctantly scored with one of our more experienced warriors.

The Goblins returned to the field for the final moments, the saw wielder, still not sent off, opted to give this drive a miss, although their assassin was now poised, boot ready.

Hilariously a rock was tossed from the crowd and twonked the short fellow on the head promptly knocking him out again before he even had time to lace his boot!

We spent the remaining moments of the first half laughing.

The second half and it was our turn to begin the attack. A new ball and chain goblin took to the field and added further mirth to their pathetic attempts at hurting us. We drove down the flank, only to be cut off by a swath of Greenskins. Then their assassin attacked one of my men whilst he lay prone, and got himself removed for his cowardly actions – much to the chagrin of the Melkor General.

Taking slightly longer than we anticipated we eventually manoeuvred the ball into their endzone and cracked a few skulls along the way.

The dejected and shame ridden Goblins returned for the final quarter of the game, almost resident to the notion that no elven blood would be spilt this day. Then something changed, the Troll B'glir let forth a mighty roar and a might blow that seriously injured one of my men and stunned another, this was followed up by another KO at the LOS. Our numerical advantage had swiftly been cut.

The Goblins swarmed upon us like rats, and I was forced to call a retreat, painfully having to leave three men behind at their mercy.

The newly confident Goblin General screamed to us: “Join us at the Towers or die!”

I spat with disgust in his direction, but his threats were not hollow and the saw tore into a prone warrior – warranting medical attention which he received at all haste.

The Goblins final actions were an attempt at a consolatory TD that they failed... but at least it allowed my men some respite.

The game was over; the bloodshed, finally, had been minimal - a roaring success for Vanyar!

Next we battle our old enemies the Wild Men – we will crush them underfoot!

Regards,
Tarius

Xxx

First of all, it has to be said that Ryan is a master of the Meta as he had me very much expecting to see my team in tatters – a task his Gobbos clearly weren’t up to this game. :)
Fungus did nothing before BHing himself, and nobbla only managed a single KO amongst a spattering of stuns and failed av rolls.

Then, as I looked upon my team and noted I had 4 skills to roll I realised he had instead try to nobble my team with aging... his plan was however foiled as my 76+, 51+, 31+ and 6+ players all passed! Huzzah!

It was a very fun game and had ry got the av breaks on T1 instead of T14 then the game may have been very different... probably more elven blood!

His Gobbos team is actually very good, well, for Gobbos – better than Pyths ever was – I can’t wait to see their first win.

GG mate!
