We stumbled...we bumbled...and we almost blew it! Thanks to some skinks fumbling a pass - we managed the defensive TD. However, overall, it was a horrible game for us. With 50% high FF, Atlanta got the ref...what the heck do their fans know that ours do not? We need to improve the quality of our fans for sure. The skinks fouled well and their armor was just amazing. However, in the end...a win is a win...so struggles aside, it goes down in the W column and we move on.
The Philly Chaotic Eagles scared the Atlatl Falchions terribly, more team strength, more general maiming power, to the point that the Falchions contemplated making this a duel, but they forewent the duel option and hoped for handicaps and fate to take their side.
The 1st offensive turn of the match by the Eagles had the Falchions scared that they had decided poorly. With what looked like a career long injury facing an already aging saurus LOS the apothecary trotted out and told the saurus to lizard up, it was just a severe sprain, and since saurs are about as smart as a box of rocks he believed the team apothecary and continued on. With one of the Eagles dirtiest players in jail for ‘unspecified infractions’ of the law, the ref made sure that the Eagles 2nd dirtiest player also left the match to try to keep the match a bit closer to the intention of the rules. The Falchions kept putting skinks in tempting positions for the Eagles who just were unable to penetrate the new tougher cotton Falchion uniforms. The 1st half whistle blew and the teams went into the locker rooms 0-0.
With the lizards receiving in the 2nd half it looked like they had the option to play keepaway and bring in the match to the obvious 1-0 conclusion. However J’stin P’ele a tight end tried unsuccessfully to make a lateral pass and fumbled the ball leaving it open for a hungry Eagle team. A bitter fight ensued but the Eagles came up with the ball and waltzed in for a 1-0 lead. The lizards had another shot at offense. With 5 turns left it was still very reasonable to expect them the opportunity to score. The Eagles fans let them down and the Falchions fans somehow got to the ref, of course the Falchions would not let this opportunity pass and ended up putting 5 Eagles out of the match in the ensuing drive, getting overzealous and leaving the ball exposed once again. The Falchions again failed to capitalize on their offensive opportunity and it ended up being a general scrum for the final several turns.
GG and gratz Azure, thanks for the pointers. ”
