(4) Apothecary SUCCEEDS!
That was the first block of the game - could have gone worse (apo fail) but I lost two players to Niggles later on (retired both) and one was the only player with a skill, so effectively the team is starting from scratch, except with one less player (once I have bought a replacement).
I Niggled a Human Blitzer with a block, and apo failed for him, so the humans will be looking for another recovery game. Cas were fairly even all through the first half. The humans got pretty much outpowed though their dodging and two guards made up for things, a surf on my ball carrier giving him a niggle and making it harder to score. Ball bounced ok so a handoff and 2 GFI later I was in.
All through the second half, the dice belonged to the humans. All I could do was pick players up, and more and more dropped out due to KOs, with a load of stuns thrown in, so effectively I was using half the team of the humans for most of the second half, even though I started it with 3 more players. Av7 vs Av8 and the lower number came off worse in this one, as expected.
Even so, I might have scored in the last turn had I not used my free player to run back and help with blocks - by that point I was convinced I'd succumb to a late winner rather than be able to dodge through multiple tackle zones, pick the ball up, throw, and score - I'm not that lucky.
We weren't totally outdiced at least, which makes it a change from some of the games I've had lately, but for this team it's a backwards step, the roster shrinking and us having absolutely no skilled players whatsoever after 2 games. One more game and no skill gain and that's it for this lot - I like to see progress and would rather ditch them than bang my head against a wall with a shrinking crap team!
Cassibon probably speaks a different native language to me, was a fairly slow player (several turns passed the 4 min mark) but otherwise got on with things. Some of his dodging was unnecessary - through tackle zones - but was rarely punished, and overall they and he, are good value for the draw. I'd have felt hard done by if the game had been lost I think, and probably, so would he. ”
