#1 David K – Dead (RIP) #15 The Vanishing Infinite – Dead (RIP)
“A slippery game thanks to both pouring rain and gushing blood.
Started well for us, first with the zombies' armour holding and Rob regenerating from the nasty foul thrown at him. A beastman made a lone run and David K, looking pumped full of drugs, got on the case. It looked like we might get the ball away, but it was too slippery for Aidan to hold onto. Eventually David K was fouled into submission and the pitch started to look worryingly clear. After Mike tried too hard to knock the ball carrier over rather than just stripping the ball and ended up flat on his face, Theo Kelly wandered in for the td. 1-0
There was just enough time left in the half for us to convince Frederick Wheeler to switch sides.
Between a few injuries, Donald Hibberd feeling under the weather and a player sent off, Mort Avaritia only had 9 players to set up second half. Thanks to k.o. recovery, regeneration, plentiful reserves and the converted player we still had more than a full team.
We'd have been happy enough to stall out for the draw, but after causing three injuries (one unfortunately fixed by the apothecary) in one turn we decided we might have the numbers to try for the win. In the end the slippery ball and hard to knock down opposition put a stop to that.
Tawnhlows:
3 Geoffrey Grimwade - Always a menace, and lasted the game out despite the big target on his head.
2 Theo Kelly - Good work for the td.
1 John Phillips - Did the most damage. Normally 3 cas would rate higher but none of them were the important hits.”
