the first half was a lot of fight over nothing. lots of hits, knockdowns, pushes, shoves, and general grunty mayhem. but the ball lay on the pitch most of the half. but by the end of the first half, one of Big Hammers' slayers was knocked out, and 3 of Blitsss!' skinks were hurt badly, with the 4th knocked out, though Klutsss did return to play for the 2nd half.

both scores came in the 2nd half. Blitsss! scored first as a result of the combination of a Touchback enabling Lutsss to gain control of the ball, and a Pitch Invasion leaving one wing fairly clear of defenders. but Lutsss wasn't confident enough in his ability to maintain hold of the ball, nor of his teammates' ability to protect him, so he ran it in as soon as he could.
then Big Hammers collected the ball, faked down the sideline and swung around the other side. Blitsss wasn't surprised by this, but their response coverage was weak, owing partly to players trying to run faster than they're used to, as well as some good offensive coverage by Big Hammers. in the end, Duerut was able to push Putsss off of Mael just enough to let him slip in at the buzzer.

fan fact: all 4 skinks from Blitsss! ended up on stretchers to the locker room. none seriously injured, but certainly out for the remainder of the day. not too strange, by itself, until you consider that only two of them were actually hit that hard. the other two both ended up there from trying to push themselves. Blitsss!' sprinting coach will have to drill them with the importance of stretching.”
