A full strength 2 game Lizard team vs a 6 game 9 men Ogre team? Odds had to be in my favour, right? Despite the useless handicap (Buzzing, put onto the Kroxi) I was pretty much kicked all over the park in this one. Down to 6 players at the end (the Ogres had a player sent off and a Badly hurt Ogre, and a ko that came back, whereas none of mine bothered) and with 3 RR burning through like a fire through bush things were real tough. A foul niggled the Kroxi in turn 2, then a block killed a Lizardman later on, and KOs stayed in the dugout whenever they landed there. The Ogres did bonehead in some sticky situations, but when they blocked, it was more or less a Lizard down on the floor. The 51% luck you see of mine represents the fact that I really didn't do a great deal in the match save pick players up, pick the ball up a couple of times and run it in. No passing, a few dodges, that's it.
The real tricky part is the winnings. If it were something rubbish like 30 or 40k, the team would be retired. With 90k, they get another Saurus and that makes things tricky.
Well, actually, it's a bit of a no brainer.
The Kroxi is niggled, the two players with skills are a Saurus (Stand Firm on a double) and the Skink (Side Step, Sprint). Pretty useless for 3 games.
And therein lies my problem with Lizardmen. They get high speed, 7 ST4+ players and av9 on those... and they don't skill up worth a damn. My last Lizard team I retired undefeated on 4/2/0 because only the skinks were skilled to any degrees, and they were knocking on the door of 150tr :(
I'll leave them for a while - maybe pick them up in a week or two, or just retire them quietly. I haven't the patience or time to waste on Lizardmen much past 4 games. If they don't have a couple of block players by then, you may as well forget it. The Ogres had 2 players (Ogre and Gobbo) with block and more or less kicked my butt.
Hard luck on the loss Strider84. You played well but bonehead stuffed you a few times. In terms of kicking ass your team was the clear winner though. I know that happens with Ogres - I play them in the sure knowledge I rarely lose but that whatever is left after the game might not be worth carrying on with... and that's the dilemma I have, especailly with the 90k cash :S”
